Suddenly my ring is too big

It fit fine when FH proposed in June and now its so loose I can easily pull it off my finger and spin it around.

I haven't lost any weight (unfortunately). Has anyone had this happen to them? I'm thinking my fingers were bigger in the summer because of the heat. Is this possible?

It's not worth getting resized because I feel like it wont fit in the summer when it gets hot again. Now my FMIL wants me to get a ring guard but I'm totally not crazy about that idea.

cooler weather makes ur fingers 'shrink' and in the warmer weather ur fingers 'fatten'....happened to me...not much to do as far as i know....if u find out....tell me

yes - prob b/c the weather is cooling so your fingers are prob normal now, not like in the summer where most people's fingers swell.

i got my ring sized at the end of august and when she sized it i said that size 5 was too small b/c 5 fit just perfect. the lady said no, that 5 would be the right size b/c my finger is biggest at the time (summer). she was right. i picked up my ring last week and now the ring is slightly loose.

Yep, our fingers definitely swell in the heat. As winter nears, you'll find that it'll seem looser and looser but may tighten again when you're sleeping... just the temperature changes.

If you think it might be able to fall off, take it to your jeweler asap to have them attach something to it that you can remove once the summer rolls around again. HTH Good luck!

The cooler weather does make your finger shrink a little. It happens to me too!

My fingers swell & shrink with the weather as well, and I cannot stop raving about Ring Snuggies. You can get them at Claries for under $3.00, and they'll make your ring a perfect fit. I'm wearing one right now that is a 1/2 size too big, it would easily spin or come off. With the snuggie, it is fine :) I love them!

I do notice that my ring is looser in the winter but not enough to make it fall off. Ask your jeweler, he/she may suggest something to you!

I had the exact same problem with my ring too. When FH propsed it was loose so we took it back to the jeweler and he said it was best NOT to resize due to weather swelling and decreasing, pregnancy eventually fingers get bigger, etc.. so he said he would fit the balls inside the ring to help it fit better. It worked well and I dont even feel them. HTH!

When I read th topic of your post I thought you meant the Diamond was too big... and I was thinking- this girl is crazy-- your diamond can never be too big

Mine was loose when FH proposed in May, snug all summer & getting loose again. It's the weather- the doors in my old apartment did the same thing- you couldn't slam a door shut in the summer if you tried!!

ure fingers shrink in cold weather...u can get little metal balls soddered into the ring...and easily remove them in the summer...thats waht i did and theyre really comfy...and at no charge from my jeweler!

Mine is the same way. I am considering getting one of those rubber things that make it a little smaller so that I can remove it when I need to.

THANK YOU!!!! I've actually lost 20 pounds since January, and my ring is starting to get really loose! I don't want to keep having to resize it, and my mom told me about these things, and I had no idea where to find them!

When FH proposed we were at a waterfall in Ithaca, New York so I thought that why it was so big was because my hands were freezing. We went to the jeweler and my ering was actually 6 an 1/4 instead of a 6 so they re-sized it. I recently had it sized again (I have lost 25 pounds since getting engaged) Now it's a 5 1/2. It can still swing around my finger, but won't go over my fat knuckle.

Get it resized!

I lost weight, and my ring felt big... I thought for sure my fingers would swell in the summer so it wouldnt make sense to resize, and one day I looked down and my ring was gone!

Luckily, it was found shortly after, but I resized t immediately when it was found - I had no problem over the summer.....

cool weather shrinks your finger...mine is the same way but not to the point it will slide off....i know this is kinda weird but you can wrap a bandaid around the bottom so it stays tighter or jewelers have something of the same effect instead of resizing and it not fitting in summer

ALSO after all this time, your finger likely has a slight 'groove' in it from wearing the ring...this makes the ring seems bigger and your finger smaller as well. LAST summer, my ring would turn my finger blue in the heat and i'd have to soak my hand in ice and remove it. THIS summer I was perfectly fine. I dont particularly weigh any more or less from last year, my finger just has this slight groove/indentation in it.
