Suffolk Brides Please Help!

Suffolk Brides Please Help!

I am considering having an afternoon reception in Sayville next year. My dillema is that I don't know the area and I need to find a fun bar in the area that a large group (20+) of friends can go to after the reception to keep partying. Sayville would be close to the reception hall, but I may suggest hotels in Happauge.

Any of your ideas would help a lot. This might be a deal breaker with my FI if I can't come up with some options for our group.

I am not from Long Island and I am really hoping that you ladies can help me out.
TIA

What about any places in Port Jefferson, or close to that area?

Sounds good to me. I was afraid that Port Jeff would be too far, but FI doesn't think so. Any suggestions you might have would be awesome! All I know about Port Jeff is Danfords. Thanks.

Re: Please help - I need suggestions!

There are a ton of bars in Port Jeff, Danfords is good.
There is also Port Jazz, its a club/bar in town on the 2nd floor of a building.
There are a ton of places on 25A near the water, a comb of bars and rest.
Danfors might be good for you becuase with a large group they will all be able to hang out in the large bar overlooking the water.

Good luck, let me know if you have any other questions.

I just wanted to let you know Port Jeff is all the way on the north shore and Sayville is all the way on the south shore. The drive can be long.

That is exactly my dillema. I really love the little town of Port Jefferson, but I also like Land's End better than Lombardis on the Sound. I wanted something with a view of the water and I am way too big for Danfords.

What am I going to do??

Please help me girls.

Amy, thanks for your help. We did look at East Wind but it was too far east for us.

I jut spent some time talking to FI and I think we are going to try to make Land's End work. (It is my favorite out of 18 places!) Our plan is to have the OOT guests stay in Happauge and then find a place to go around there. He mentioned an Irish bar called Brennans, but of course I have never heard of it. Anyone heard of it?

Brennans is in Hauppauge, on 111. We had our reception at Timber Point (in Great River, near Sayville). After we all went to the bar at the hotel where our guests were staying--the Marriott in Islandia. Very nice. I'd feel weird in Brennans in wedding clothes.

Have you considered Flowerfield? They are owned by the same people as Lands End (Lovin Oven). We are getting married there in October. Its in St. James, real close to Port Jeff.
If not, there is a beautiful restaurant with an outdoor bar in Oakdale called The Riverview. People pull their boats right up to it. Its on the Long Island Sound. Its probably 5 minutes from Lands End. Very classy!!

Re: Suffolk Brides Please Help!

There are a couple of places in Sayville and Oakdale.

You have a couple of restaurants.
21 Main (Sayville) - right on Montauk Highway.
Collins and Main (Sayville) - off of Middle Road - not sure about the bar action though)
Riverview (Oakdale) - on the water
Snapper Inn (Oakdale) - on the water
Kingstons (West Sayville) - it is a small place outside - if they know in advance- they might save a certain area for people to hang out.

Bars -
Portly Villager (Sayville) - on Montauk Highway
Half Penny (Sayville) on Montauk Highway - I think some mentioned this already
McGoverns (Oakdale) - on Montauk Highway - not sure what it is like inside.

Hope this helps - let me know if you have any questions.

Sue- thanks for your help. I went to Flowerfield and it is gorgeous. Unfortunately FH's sister beat me to it. I want to find a place of our own.

I will definitely check out the Riverview.

Keep the suggestions coming ladies! I am also looking for a hotel with a bar. So far I have heard about Marriott Islandia and the Hyatt Wind Watch. Does anyone think one is better than the other? I was hoping they would both be 'half-way' between St. James and Sayville. What do you think?

ok why are people staying all the way in hauppauge?
from sayville the marriott residence inn in holtsville is closer it is right off route 97 and the LIE. you may want to call there - in the same parking lot is applebees which has a bar to hang around in.
we had a block there for 99 per room.

Just wanted to say Collins and Main has the BEST food but can be a little pricey.
