Suffolk Girls Who Commute to the City..

Where do you live and what station/line do you use?

FH and I are looking at houses in Suffolk but I work in the city so the communte is a BIG factor for me.

I live in Northport and take the train in from the Huntington train station on the Port Jeff line daily.

I'm a self-proclaimed LIRR expert, so if you have any questions, feel free to FM me. I've been commuting for 4 years now.

I live in Smithtown and I can either take the Port Jeff line from Smithtown or I can take the Ronkonkoma line from Ronkonkoma or Central Islip.

Ok follow up questions:

1) Ronkonokoma seems to be my best bet right now in terms of price range. They have a direct line to Penn, right?

2) Smithtown apartments are also an option but how far is the port Jef station? I heard central islip station might be a bit sketchy?

3) I take the babylon line from Massapequa now. Do you think Lindenhurst is a nice area? What about West Islip or Babylon?

Thanks Ladies!

Lindenhurst isnt bad its right next to Babylon and you have the village. I live off sunrise the apartment prices are a little better then babylon and I forgot I could would to the rail in about 15-20 minutes but i never hear the train

I take the Port Jeff line and in the mornings they do have direct lines into Penn. If they don't have the time you need they do have connecting trains at Jamaica Station. Theres trains going to Penn almost every few mins from Jamaica in the morning.

When I took the train from CI it was kinda sketchy. Thats why I stopped going there. The Ronkonkoma line is nice, but I really like the North Shore lines much better.

I just moved to West Babylon a few months ago. Babylon is a nice station, on a main line. I think the best part is that most of the time Babylon is the first stop so you don't have to worry about searching for a seat. For some reason that makes me really anxious. The commute time ranges from about an hour to and hour and 15 min. which isn't too bad. Good luck!

I used to live in Lindenhurst (which my mom is now selling her house there) and took the Babylon line. Now I live in Holbrook and take the Ronkonoma line.

Babylon is so much better because it is cheaper, quicker, and there are less issues because the train rides on top. Ronkonkoma rides ground level and there are always issues (train hitting a car or person).
