Suffolk Reception Cites
Does anyone have any recommendations on reception cites in Suffolk? I am getting married in Selden and would like to have the reception somewhere that is not too far from the church and that has a hotel nearby. I am making appointments to look at some places at the end of the month. So far I am looking at the Port Jeff Country Club, the Hamlet Wind Watch and Smithtown Landing. I am on a tight budget (aren`t we all!) and we are paying for it ourselves, so I am trying to keep the price per person to $70 or under. Any suggestions or feedback on the places I am already looking at. Also, what should I ask the people I am meeting with? I am sure there are landmines that I should watch out for and would appreciate someone pointing them out to me! Thanks, Becky

We switched from the Pt. Jeff CC to the Holbrook Country Club. It's only $60.00pp for a Saturday night. I've heard great things about the place. The food I heard was excellent. We switched because we're on a tighter budget than we first thought. Good luck!

The PJCC is perfect!!! (m)
We had our wedding there on 9/2/01. Our price per person for a Sunday with tax and gratuity came to $89 per person. Their prices are a bit lower in the off seasons, or if you choose a buffet. The facility is beautiful, the food is fabulous, and the staff is so friendly and helpful. If you have any questions e-mail me at [email protected]. Good luck!! Michele 9/2/01

I'm getting married at the Miller Place Inn. It's up by Cedar Beach. I think thier prices are probably a little higher than what you are looking for, but I've had a great experience with them so far. I got a good deal because I am getting married on a Wed.

Villa Lombardi in Holbrook
A friend of mine went to a wedding here and said it was very nice. I have heard it is on the expensive side, but as with everything else, if you are flexible with dates and times maybe you can give them a call and check it out.

Meadow Club.....
My sister got married there on a Sat. night for under 70 per person. It was was really nice, and the food is great. They are located on route 112 in Port Jefferson. I highly recommend them for your budget.

I am getting married at Smithtown Landing Country Club and the prices are right. They are only 70 dollars on a saturday night. I am getting married on a friday night so they are less. They are on a Golf coarse and a river. It is breath taking.

I got married at Smithtown Landing on 9/15. We were very pleased and paid $62 pp for a Sat. night but as I can see by the messages above they've raised prices just a bit. That included cake and centerpieces. The food was wonderful and the service was as well. I had quite a number of personal touches and requests and they helped me make sure they all happened. Any questions on Smithtown Landing feel free to email at [email protected]

They don't have a website. The owners are older people and don't believe in computers. The woman that you'll speak to, Kathy, brought her own computer in for herself. The number is 585-4433. It's also on a golf course so you can go by the lakes and stuff to take pictures too. Here's the prices: $65 pp for anyone over 20 yrs. old, 13-20 is $50pp, 6-12 is $25pp and 5 under is free. Not bad though. I'll give you a rundown for what you get as far as food goes since to some people it matters. For your cocktail hour you get 8 different hot and cold hors D'oevres passed around Butler Style, for Chef Stations you get 2 Gourmet Pasta Bars, 2 Carving Boards, 1 French Station, 1 Oriental Station, you can substitute one of the stations for a Mexican Fajita Wrap station, you get a Creative Bistro Table which includes an Antipasto Table, International Cheeses, Garden Vegetable Basket and a Seasonal Fresh Fruit Display. For Dinner you get an appetizer, a salad, and your guests get to pick from 3 main courses. And the dessert I already mentioned in another post. The cake is also included. I don't remember if I mentioned that your wedding is the only thing going on at that time. Anyway ask for Kathy, and if you want tell her that Lynda's daughter Melissa from North Carolina recommended the place. We saw the place on Dec. 27. Oh, also the hall is in an octagon shape. So it's a little more intimate than most places. The ceiling is vaulted with a skylight, and it has a seperate place for the DJ to go if he wants. It's his own booth. So you don't have to see his equipment. The Bridal Suite is downstairs. She was very nice a personable. They didn't charge us more money for a Sat. night or for the same amount of people. So, overall I think we got a great deal. We also switched there because our Anniversary date was available. So when we get married it'll be our 9 year anniversary. Definitely go see it. I'll put it the way my fiance put it... 'It's homey' It's very family oriented, not commercial. Well, I hope I didn't bore you, and I hope no one else minds that I posted all of this information. Let me know what you think, and if you have any other questions. Good luck!

Becky, We got married in October 2001 at West Lake Inn in Patchoque. They are a Lovin Oven place (Lands End and Flowerfields) but their prices are wonderful! We had a Sat afternoon for $60PP. WE got so many compliments about the hall. There was sooooooo much food that people were asked if they wanted seconds!! My email is [email protected] if you want more info. Also they have a website http://www.wlinn.com Good Luck Lisa

Melissa, Thanks for the great info! I am going to definitely call Kathy tomorrow and tell her that I got her number from you. My list of places to look at is really growing and we really want to do this in one weekend. This board is great for preliminary research! BeckyWelcome New Vendors
