Suggest a restaurant for our birthday dinner! HELP!

DH and I are both vegetarian and our birthday is on Sunday. We are going to a new vegetarian restaurant in Great Neck that night.

On Sat. the ILs want to take us out. Where should we go? We've had Zen Palate a thousand times...we love it but we're looking for something different! Can you suggest something in Nassau? Any cuisine!

Is there a Long Island dining website that might have some vegetarian suggestions? I don't know of any.

Thanks we've tried all the vegetarian restaurants we know of.

Has anyone tried Dhaba(Indian) in Jericho?? Isn't there a good Thai place in the Roslyn area??

The Thai restaurant in Roslyn is called Citrus... not much there for vegetarians though.

There are so many amazing vegetarian restaurants in NYC if you feel like venturing out (Candle 79 & Candle Cafe, Angelica Kitchen, etc.) but not too many on LI. Wild Ginger is a great Asian restaurant in Great Neck with a few veggie items (in my opinion better than Citrus, which is I believe owned by the same people).

Thanks Lauren! I've been to Citrus and thought there was another one for some reason. I love Angelica Kitchen! We'd go but we'd have to drag a whole bunch of family members...I don't think they want to go to the city. I think we're going to try Cafe Green in Great Neck tonight. Have you been there? We had Jewel of India last night and it was very good!

I haven't been to either of those places... please let me know how Cafe Green is, I'm dying to go there!

Thanks for the birthday greeting Lauren! Cafe Green was just ok. I like Zen Palate sooooo much better. They have a location in NYC too...I think near Union Sq.

Cafe Green's food was interesting and they had some good combinations. DH had the lemongrass tempeh which was the best of the entrees. My soy salmon was nothing like salmon, which I was glad about but it had a interesting flavor b/c it was tofu in a citrus marinade rubbed with cilantro. My mother had a polenta with vegetables and portabello mushroom steak, which was ok too. The vegan cake wasn't great but I don't like vegan cake. It's always dry and often too sweet to compensate. The appetizers were good, just cold. I think the restaurant would be much better for lunch. They seemed to have a nice lunch menu. Nevertheless, we liked trying a new place.
