I went to a wedding this weekend where the tables were named and not numbered. I have to say that it was kind of annoying to have to stop at every table and look closely at the name ...eventually I found our table after a friend hailed me from accross the room. Not to mention the place itself was alittle dark. I am not saying not to name them..because it is a cute idea...but maybe you may want to say ...Number 1 and then the name. Alot of people were walking around with my FI and I asking what the table was called from people already sitting down.

Re: suggestion for girls naming their tables
That's what we're doing (My brother did the same). They had table names w/ pictures & then a number as well

Re: suggestion for girls naming their tables
I agree with the suggestion. And that was the biggest reason I was deciding against naming tables.
Also, after Sasha (somethingblu) mentioned that at her wedding (at Jericho Terrace) she had table names, but the hall still put out the #s on the tables for their staff, so THEY knew which table was which!

Re: suggestion for girls naming their tables
As a potential wedding guest, Id be frustrated if I had to walk around reading table names. It may seem cute but I never liked the idea. I suppose if you are going with a theme, the decent thing to do is use both names and numbers. But then again, I am not a theme bride either. Usually at weddings that I have been to, odd numbers are on one side of a room and even numbers are on the other so people can sit down in a rather orderly fashion.

Re: suggestion for girls naming their tables
As long as the staff has the layout of the tables and their names, they will be able to direct your guests to the proper tables. And seriously, what's the big deal if the guest has to look at a few tables before finding theirs?

Re: suggestion for girls naming their tables
My DOC told us if we did this just to put the tables in alphabetical order...avoids all the confusion... for example: Sasha's (SomethingBlue) were diamond cuts...have
table 1 = cushion cut table 2 = emerald table 3 = heart etc,etc,etc...you guys get it.

I did something like this for my e-party everyone loved it. We had heart shaped holders the one where you stick the place card in (not the frame), we put a picture of us on the place cards!

I think if it's a smaller wedding with 10 - 12 tables, not a big deal.
But... if you have 30 tables (raising my hand), I could see how horrendus it would be.
I'm going to have them numbered on the placecard, etc... but at the table it will say
'Table 3 Casablanca'
Something like that. Makes life easier, and also has the creative kick we all like!
