Suggestions for nice gift when cannot attend wedding?
Is there any kind of going rate or guideline for what to send a friend whose wedding you won't be able to make? We have a previous commitment and I have no idea what range to spend - should it be the same as if we were going? Maybe a little lower? She is not one of my closest friends but we would have liked to attend. I don't want to seem cheap and do want to send something...would love any suggestions. Thanks!

Honestly - I would send a check. I recently missed the wedding of a good friend because I was in a bridal party the same day - I sent a card and put my response and a $200 check in it. This was a close friend. For a nto so close friend, I would send $100 to be generous.

I had to miss the wedding for a pretty good friend, so I actually got her a very nice gift from her registry.

I usually do cash if I attend, to cover the cost of my being there, at least. When I can't go, I hit the registry!

You can either send a gift from the registry or send a check (so $150 pp)
