Suggestions for Pre Cana

FH and I are having to register for our pre cana for this month. I have heard a lot of horror stories. So could someone give me a good suggestion for one to go to, and the ones to stay away from....TIA

We went to the Immaculate Conception Center in Queens for the 1 day one. It wasn't fun but we got out an hour early.

We did the one through the diocese - it was all day Sat and Sunday at St. Johns HS in West Islip. It was long but really not bad. They had a lot of professional speakers - marriage counselors and communication speciatlists. We thought it was very useful info and the setting was casual and low pressure.

FH and I did it through my church. You can't really tell if your session is going to be bad. Ours was 6 classes at 2 hours a piece for 6 weeks. It wasn't so terrible but it wasn't that enjoyable either.

We are the middle of doing ours at the church we are getting married at.

We did the Focus test the first time and since had 1 session, and still have 2 or 3 more.

2 of the session are about 3-4 hours and the rest about about 1-2 hours.

We had 2 sessions that were 5 hours each.

It wasn't a particularly enlightening experience for us, but it definitely wasn't horrible.

If you go into it with an open mind, you just might have fun!

We did our Pre-cana through our church. We enjoyed it. We went one night a week for 6 weeks. We had a great group!! WE learned a lot about each other and it got a lot out in the open. We also had a small party after and went to mass were the Priest blessed us and introduced us into the congregation. Our hosts also bought us a crucifix.
