What are you guys throwing or doing when you and your DH come out of the church for the traditional Rice Throw???
I understand the rice thing, but why do churches need to be so strict about this. I feel like I can't do anything and I want the tradition of throwing something.

The rice is dangerous to the birds, the rose petals people can slip on, same for the bubbles. In that case - go with ribbon wands.
Our Church had no restrictions, so we did rose petals.

would they allow bird seed?? they also have confetti that is supposed to melt when it hits the ground..??

You would have to ask your church.
I personally wouldn't want birdseed thrown, or anything small like that b/c it gets in your hair!

The only thing we can do is either bird seed or bubbles. We went back and forth for a while on this but decided we didn't want to find bird seed in our hair and clothes so we are doing bubbles. I really wanted to do the fake rice but we aren't allowed.

FH and I jokingly refer to the church's guidelines for the wedding as 'The Book of No'. For example: Can we throw rice? NO. Can we throw birdseed? NO. Can we throw flower petals? NO. Can we have an aisle runner? NO. Can we have a reading that's not from the scripture but has been read at every other wedding on the bride's side of the family (Methodist)? NO. Can we have rubber bands to hold the pew bows? NO. Can the flower girl throw petals? NO.
We will be using non-staining bubbles for our day. Good luck with the planning.
