I'm helping a friends sister plan her sister's (my friend) bridal party. She came to me and ask what the bridal party is responsable for, money wise? I know that normally the Brides family usually pays for the bridal shower but with the economy the way it is, what mother can afford that! So my question is what do you ladies think is fair to ask the bridsmaids to do or pay for without being to pushy or crossing a line? TIA
FYI: The party will be held in July in the Bride's farthers backyard. The father has the tables and chairs.
Any information with help.....

I'm just asking my BP to take care of my b-party and their dresses. They also have to take care of their hair, makeup and shoes. I feel that's a big expense as it is that they are taking on so I wouldn't want to ask for anything else.

how many bm's does she have? maybe they can pay for all the decorations and alcohol, the her mother can pick uo the tab for the food and favors? or maybe they can get decorations and favors, and the mom does food and beverage? it really depends on how many girls she has
eta: if she does this i feel like she should go real cheap on their dresses and bparty local somewhere... i mean it all adds up, the dresses and b party alone will usually cost girls at least 300 and thts minimum

Absolutly! Do you think if my friends sister ask the girls for help with the bridal shower that would be asking for to much?

She has 7 (I think) I dropped out cause I'm pregnant and can't afford all the expenses right before my baby is born. Her wedding is in October and I due to give birth in September. But your suggestions were helpful... Thanks

Yeah! That's why the family is doing a backyard shower. I guess she's just concerned with the food , decorations, liquor/drinks, favors... you get the point LOL

I think it's ok to ask them to take care of decorations and games. I think it might be asking too much to ask for them to help pay for the actual shower. Unless, like Jna said, she has a small b-party and chooses an inexpensive dress. I'm sure some people will disagree with me but I just feel the family should pay for the shower. I know a few of my friends are out of work and it would be difficult for them to help.

If they are having it in the backyard, maybe everyone can make something. For instance, you can make trays of baked ziti for next to nothing while a restaurant would charge a lot for the same thing. As for alcohol, a shower really only needs wine and mimosas. You could make chocolate lolipops for favors. There are so many ways to save money and have a great shower
