I had mentioned this before, but since our wedding falls the day before Mother's Day, we wanted to do something special for the mothers that will be attending the wedding.
Our plan is to have a yellow rose waiting at each place setting for the mothers with a little card or saying attached. The only problem is, in order to do this, I would actually have to do assigned seating. I was going to do a Seating Chart in the entrance way so people can look up their name and what table they will be sitting at and then at each place setting have a place card with their name.
I feel like this can get a little complicated and out of hand and I know it's annoying when you are told where to sit. Honestly, I don't care if after they get the flower they decide they would rather sit at another seat at the table - that's fine with me.
Can any think of another way I could possibly execute this without doing assigned seating? It seems like the only way without physically announcing in the middle of the wedding what we are doing and handing out the roses - which I am not doing lol.
TIA!

hmmm...well since you will know which tables the moms will be at maybe a cute little poem on those tables wishing the moms a happy mothers day and telling them to take a rose...something to this effect?

ITA!!! Have a pretty vase at the table with enough of the roses for the moms, and a note for them to take them home!
Or I know you said you're not doing it, but if you are going around your reception to greet everyone, you could hand deliver them...
Only other thought is to see if the staff will hand them out while they're taking orders? But I think they'd look pretty on the tables

I agree with the above - since you will know who at the tables are mother's have enough roses at the table already, maybe you can place them in the favors - so it all comes together. And have the poem there for them to read.
If anything - you can put the poem on each place setting so everyone at the table celebrates Mother's Day but in the poem include something that says that the moms at the table should take their special rose.

Could you assign a few ushers to hand out the roses as people enter for your ceremony?

thanks everyone for the suggestions!
The vase sounds like a good idea and so does the usher to hand them out. I will have to think about this.

Are you giving away your centerpieces? Is there enough to go around so each of the mothers would get one? Is there is, maybe you can have the DJ make an announcement that the centerpieces are for the mom's in the room. And you can attach the little poem to the centerpiece itself?
Just a thought...

can you incorporate the rose into the seating card? maybe tie the mothers seating card to a pretty bud vase with the rose in it? ikea sells pretty bud vases for a dollar or two.

I think that is a really cute idea. Or maybe ask the ushers to give one to the mothers as they enter the church or ceremony area.

Since it's your moms, maybe you can just have place cards on their table already - escort cards for everyone else (including them), but then just place cards already waiting at their table?

Personally, I think it might look a little strange with your regular low CPs and then to have a vase with roses to the side of it and I'm not a big fan of assigned seating. I'd say hand them out yourself when you walk around, but I doubt you wanna carry a ton of roses under your arm. Maybe you can have like a dance for the moms and have the DJ hand them out like they hand out give-aways at sweet 16s or something? Or just have an usher do it.

I think either an usher handing out the roses or attaching them to the seating cards would make the most sense. That leaves you without things to do yourself that day, makes sure they get them, and doesn't risk mucking up your centerpieces.
Another thought is that you use them as the centerpieces and then use a DJ (as someone else suggested) to let the mothers to take the flowers as they leave.
