Suggestions please for a friend who is looking for reception locations

Hey girls...a co-worker of my mother's recently got engaged and is having trouble finding the right reception location. She wants the place to have a nice ceremony location/chapel and a nice/scenic location. Any suggestions for her? Thanks!

Lands End - beautiful gazebo overlooking the bay for the ceremony. Can't beat the waterfront!

My wedding was there and it was perfect.

The Coral House is beautiful. Also I went to a wedding at the Watermill last year and they had the ceremony there as well. It was breathtaking.

I second Flowerfield, I am getting married there. Both indoors and outdoors there are beautiful places to get married!

Re: Suggestions please for a friend who is looking for reception locations

It might be out of the way, but we are using Bridgeview Yacht Club, in Island Park. Their reception room sections off an area for the ceremony, and then they set it back up as a reception room during the Cocktail hour. Its right on the water, and they also have a gazebo. Its really nice, and reasonable too. It holds up to 400, but I think the minimum is 150.

Re: Suggestions please for a friend who is looking for reception locations

Any idea what budget range she is looking in?

I would recommend both Carlyle on the Green(Bethpage State Park) and Carltun (Eisenhower Park) if she is prepared to spend $100-$185/pp depending on day and season...

Re: Suggestions please for a friend who is looking for reception locations

I'm not sure where on LI you're looking for so here's a few suggestions that span the island.

Port Jefferson Country Club has a BEAUTIFUL view. Good price range also.

John Anthonys in Babylon (our choice) - Also beautiful views, great prices and great menu.

Swan Club in Roslyn (I think) is a good choice as well for views. I'm not sure of menu and prices, though.

Good luck!

Re: Suggestions please for a friend who is looking for reception locations

I second the Port Jeff CC - had my wedding there last year!

However, she might also try:
Harrison House in Glen Cove
The Vineyard Caterers in Aquebogue
Atlantica in Westhampton Beach
Sail Harbor in Bayville
The Cresent Beach Club in Bayville
The Riviera in Massapequa

Re: Suggestions please for a friend who is looking for reception locations

My wedding is at the Vanderbilt mansion - which has the same caterer as Flowerfields & Land's End. They offer the option of a sitdown or cocktail-only reception. Brides can have their weddings outside or in a glass-enclosed gazebo. I'd recommend it for someone who'd having 120 or so guests.

The website is www.vanderbiltmansion.com

Re: Suggestions please for a friend who is looking for reception locations

Since no one has mentioned it yet, and since I got married there, I highly recommend the Sans Souci of Sea Cliff. We had an awesome wedding there last May!! Has a beautiful setting right on Hempstead Harbor/Tappan Beach.
