I know this has been discussed on the BHB board, but I wanted some advice from fellow 2010ers. FH and I like the look of an untraditional suit - khaki pants and navy jacket - and maybe FH will have to wear a full navy suit to stand out. What do you think of this idea? Mom thinks its too casual - and FH is worried too - since he thinks our RH is very fancy (Inn at NHP). Neither of us like tuxes so we are looking for a stylish alternative. I'm trying to attach a picture so you can see what I mean:
Also, if we did this, does that mean the groomsmen have to buy their blazers/pants/shirts, etc? Is that a lot to ask? Grooms, what do you think? I kind of feel like renting tuxes can be expensive - and you don't even keep it . . . and us women have been dropping $$ on bm dresses forever . . . Thoughts?
A friend of mine got married and let the gm's wear their own suits, and gave them all matching ties. It looked really nice, and very well put together, with each gm showcasing their personality.

i will say that renting a tux for a day isnt that cheap but at the same time suits are expensive, even if you get one for a good deal will be more pricey than renting it. Most blazers alone if you get a good deal is about $200 and usually its even higher. Also remember that when renting it includes the price of the shirt, tie, and shoes. A blazer, pants, shirt, tie, shoes can really add up. Unfortunately for guys most of these things are not inexpensive. It all will depend on your guys and if they are ok with it. With a tux they can rent them anywhere from the $120-185 range about on average. Unless the guys have everything already such as a navy blazer and khaki's then it will be fine.
If you dont want a tux, you can rent suits. They have different type of suits so you can go with that.
The only thing i would say is let your FH say if he really wants this. He is wearing it and it his day too so i would only do it if this is what he REALLY wants.

That's an idea - not sure I trust the gms all that much, hahaha. I wonder if they even own suits . . .
Edited to add - he REALLY doesn't want to wear a tux.

to be honest I am not a big fan of the different color jacket and pants. I think it kinda looks like they are in Prep School. Sorry....
I do like the idea of something untraditional though what about kahki jacket and pants,with a dark tie.

i think the GMs in teh pic look fine...but i would think FH shoudl wear a khaki suit to stand out. i dont like the all blue (JMHO)

i know the place we went to had suits to rent, its tuxedo park in glen cove on carle place. Even our male reader rented a suit from there.
Most tuxedo places though will also have suits to rent.
