Sulking...

Sulking...

I just need some support.

I had the wedding of my dreams planned from the venue to the food, dress everything. Then a family emergency and loss of job cost me every dime of my savings, so now I'm working with a fraction of what I had, fraction as I can't even afford the dress I've dreamed off, I can't afford these beautiful venues I've look at day after day.

A friend & Cousin are marrying before and after me (weeks apart) with these beautiful invitations, flowers, venues and god help me but I am just so damn jealous. I've cried over it, and I know its about WHO and not WHERE but at the end of the day, I'm a girl, with big dreams and hopes and they've been crushed.

I've accepted I can't get what I want, I get it. But for once this year, I really wish something good would happen to me. Just once.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm sure it will still be the best day of your life, and if in the long run you still want the whole big thing, maybe save your dream wedding for when you renew your vows? Maybe in a few years you'll be back on your feet and be able to give yourself what you've always wanted. In the end, something good is happening to you. Good luck.

I'm sorry sweetie...your day is still going to be amazing! Like you said, at the end of the day it is about seeing the love of your life at the end of the aisle and knowing you will be together for the rest of your lives!

I know its a girl thing and you want all these things BUT you can probably still have them just look for DYI...its a little work...but nobody needs to know you made things but yourself! Very affordable!

Don't be sad...I know it is alot to take in but you will still have a VERY nice wedding at a price tag you can afford! *HUG*

I'm so sorry. FH lost his job this summer too and now he's going back to school. It wasn't exactly what we planned, but it's life and crying only releases the frustration temporarily.

Just a few suggestions to save $$ and still have your dream wedding: Have you thought about moving your wedding to the off season? Maybe just push it a few months? Also, I saw something on GMA and this article about renting a designer dress: http://nymag.com/shopping/guides/weddings/brides/features/2005/borrowed1.htm. Also - look into DIY projects. I made a lot of projects myself and I'm very happy with how they came out and the money I saved.

Good luck!

I'm really sorry to hear about your situation. But have you considered pushing back your wedding date? Wait a year and save money to make your dream wedding possible.

Thanks for all the comments.. Most of it will be DIY.. I'm going my own save the dates.. invitations.. even looking at my own centerpieces, etc..
I can't move the date because its a busy year for my family (a lot of weddings) and I don't want to push it fwd again (did it once already) and I lost 1 grandmother after pushing it the first time, and now my other grandmother is sick also.. I'm just hoping she makes it to next September..
At this point I'm just hoping I can get all of it done without having a nervous breakdown or something lol..

Thanks for the kind comments and ideas, I really appreciate it, and it makes me feel a lot better... Last night was just one of those rock bottom nights.

There are a lot of great websites that may be helpful in finding great vendors at lower costs like wedkey.com or briderush.com. also try to attend as many bridal show cases or events that you can (there are plenty that don't charge an entrance fee) and maybe you can win giveaways or discounts. There are a few venues that offer all inclusive packages like sands at lido beach so that may be a good avenue to explore. I don't want to sound cliche but you are marrying the man of your dreams there is no way your day won't be perfect!!

So Sweetie... would you consider pushing the wedding back so you have time to get the funds up again?

I would just try to do a little at a time. It will all come together. I am making my own centerpieces to cut on costs as well. I am not a very crafty person so I am hoping they will come out ok! haha. Good luck and try not to worry. Everything will work out!

Someone told me this today so I am going to send it forward... It made a lot of sense to me.

It's not about the little things, the venue is just a place the holds a room which is a box, it's what you put inside that box that matters...

I know it's hard to not have what you want on that day but a knights of Columbus can be just as amazing if you make it your own.

We are all here to help you create the most amazing event ever, lean on us...

At the end of the day it's not about who has the best band or dj or whose cake tasted better it's about weathering the storms with your fh and making memories that will last forever..

seriously...write a letter...you NEVER know what might happen...worst case is nothing...best case, you could still have that dream wedding...

did you ever consider a destination wedding..i hear they run cheaper and generally have package deals...it would get you away for a little bit, and maybe some family members would also enjoy the removal from normal grind...

and yes, bridal shows...many vendors offer different incentives and deals at these shows, have drawings, etc...
