Summer 2002 brides

just wanted to see where you are in the planning process stage. i think i need to get off my ass and start planning. the only things we have done is book the site, church and photographer. we have been holding back because of all the weddings this summer. was a bridesmaid for my sisters in june, will be a bridesmaid for my friend from hs in july and moh for my cousin`s in august. i wanted to focus on theirs before ours. let me know where you are so i can get really freaked out. ha ha!! my friend planned her wedding in 7 months (will be married in july)and is not stressed at all, so i think we are ok.

Band or DJ - then relax....

We found that some of the DJ's we spoke to were booked almost a year in advance for our wedding date which was this past April, so you may want to lock in your Reception Music ASAP. Then you can relax and start looking at all the options for favors, flowers, invitations, and all the other details. Your next big deadline will come up in a few months, when you need to get your dress ordered. You should do that at least 6 months in advance and may need to do it earlier if your manufacturer requires extra lead time.

The band is definitly the next item on our aganda. We are not looking for a the typical 'wedding band' so, it may take us some time. We are friendly w/ owner of napper tandys, so he passed along some bands that he recommends. I guess we will keep a watch out for them and also pay close attention to the bands that play at the upcoming weddings that we are attending. It does make me nervous though!

Im July 2002 I have booked the site (ceremony and reception), flowers and will have a photog by the end of the week hopefully - most people say Im ahead of the game - but I just want to get it over with. Next I need to find a dj. I know the good ones go quickly, hopefully I will have one by the end of july. I am waiting until the end of august to lose a little weight before I buy a dress and then the big things are over...and on to the little things. fyi - my friend was engaged in may and is getting married THIS august- and is having a great wedding - so anything is possible...

Summer 2002 brides

Well, our wedding is August 16, 2002. We've been planning our wedding since February. So far we have our reception site, DJ, Photographer, Video and the Priest booked. So right now it's pretty quiet. Next step is to start looking for a dress, and then around Christmas do the limos, flowers, Tuxedos, bridesmaids dresses, honeymoon, etc. We definitely are ahead of the game. That's also because we live in North Carolina and have to plan and book things when we are able to come up to Long Island. So it does make you stay on top of things. Some people say you have plenty of time, but when I spoke to vendors, they were already booked for next summer. Good luck!

planning out of state

we have the church and the Dj and the reception site. I am dreading bridemaid's dresses my two sisters are in college(one in boston and one in philly) I am in school in Tampa and FI sister in school in COnnecticut so I am hoping they will forfit any holiday ski plans and go to Staten Island for the dresses. We are definately on a budget, so I just want to cross things of my list so I know they are paid for.

Out of state bridesmaids

I was in a wedding where the bride picked out a manufacturer and color and told all of us to select a long dress from that manufacturer in the selected color in any style that suited us. We all bought them from different stores and it worked out fine - there were no color match problems. I solved the problem another way for my wedding. I live in Boston and all 3 bridal attendants each lived in different states. I got some material and we made the skirts and sashes, then I picked out a blouse from Talbot`s and gave them each the style number. That worked out well too.

oh my god, i just looked at your profile and saw that you are getting married at lands end in july 2002. so are we - july 12, 2002. that`s awesome, now i have someone to consult w/ besides my FI. what`s your date and time? we plan on having the cocktail hour from 7-8:30 and then the reception from either 8:30-12:00 or 8:30-12:30. the church is on centerport sometime around 4ish.

I have the reception site, photographer/videographer, and the church booked. Since I live 8 hours away, it is difficult. Specially since I work 40 ++++ hours a week and start college again on Monday! :(! Thinking soon we will book Aruba (to get the cheapest rates we possibly can!) Working on the small things...having slight problems already, but have no time to worry about them. :)! Mamcy

I also have bridesmaids that are out of state. I am thinking about using Davids Bridal because there is a store in almost every state. I know there is one in Tampa too. Its worth looking at. Good Luck!

Summer 2002 brides

We are June 2002. We have already booked the place, photographer, band and videographer. I teach and I am off for the summer so I plan on getting the flowers, clergy, limos, and dresses done by September. I would rather do it early and get exactly who and what I want then wait and find out that a vendor is booked. Everyone says the next year will fly by so the more I get done now the less stress I will have then.

Aimee - Vendors

I don't know who you saw at Patken but we booked w/ Doug. He is charging a premium ($1500) just to have him shoot our wedding. I spoke to a lot of people and they said in the end all you have are memories and the pictures. Right now our contract is around $5000 and I am sure it will be much more after we see all the beautiful pictures we want to add after the wedding. Our band is True Blue by Faze 4. They too are a bit more than we wanted to spend but we felt considering they are nine pieces they were worth it. After we heard them live it was a no brainer, we knew they were the band for us. Our video is with Holden of Multi Media Video Studios in East Meadow. The price was similar to what Patken was offering for video but I felt more comfortable going with a vendor that does strictly video rather than one that would contract out for it. I don't know what day you are getting married but if it's not a Saturday night things seem to be a bit less expensive. Good luck and let me know if you need anything.

Jenny - I tried to get Doug at Patken and he is already booked. This young guy Vinnie was there and showed me some proof albums and it turns out that he did a wedding that the girl I brought with me was in (at Villa L). I hope that made sense. Did you hear anything else about anyone in the place? I love that Photojournalism that they do. Vinny said that he can use both cameras (some people can't) for an extra $400, or I can hire an extra photo journalist for $700. Not sure what to do.

I heard good things about Vinny and Steve. From what I heard they were trained by Doug. With Doug we get photojouranalism included and done by him. I guess it depends how important it is to you. Honestly I am not as concerned with the photojournalism as I am with the wedding pics. I am sure one photographer can do a good job, having two will probably just produce more shots to choose from. Can't believe that vendors are booked so far in advance. I'm glad we got a lot done early. The wedding is actually a year from today. I am so excited!
