Summer brides and airbrush make-up

Summer brides and airbrush make-up

My wedding is in August and I have very oily skin. I originally had opted for airbrush make-up because I have read many brides rave about it , however, I have been advised by two different make-up artist to consider the 'regular ' application instead
According to them, airbrush application does not 'hold-up' so good during the summer and it tends to 'cake-up' if you spend a considerable amount of time outside. The fact that I have oily skin won't help matters either I expect to be outside about four hours (photos and cocktail hour is outside).

I would like to know if there are any other past or present summer brides that had the same problem.

Did your make-up 'cake-up'? How did it 'hold-up'? If you have known better, would you have opted for a 'regular' aplication instead? Any advice is really appreciated!!1

Re: Summer brides and airbrush make-up

I got married in June and had airbrushed makeup done. it held up perfectly. It didn't cake up and it looked flawless all day long.

The most important thing is finding a makeup artist that know what they're doing. I had 3 makeup trials with airbrushed makeup and only Manana (the girl i used for my wedding) was able to apply it perfectly.

Good Luck!

btw, I also have oily skin

I have dry skin and I plan to go with airbrush makeup -- I think it just looks more natural and holds up better. Plus, I have freckles and I think it covers better than regular makeup.

I got married in July on a very hot day and had airbrush makeup and it held up great all day long! No problems.

i had my make up trial in june and it was airbrush. It held up great and i went on the trains after which was sooo hott in there. Just waiting downstairs for the LIRR is more heat youll feel on your wedding day.

IF they say it is going to cake up and smear then it means these make up artists are using the wrong type of foundation for airbrush. They are using silicone-based foundation which they shouldn't even use in the winter. It has to be water based foundation

So water based is best? Can anyone recommend artists that use it?

it is best. Silicone based is used alot for photo shoots bc it gives a different look. But it can smear bc it has oil in it and your skin naturally produces oils so what happens is that its like painting an oil canvas with oil.

most SHOULD use water based. I have to say from what ive seen, some use airbrush but dont know how the thing works great. I mean its one thing to just put it on but its another thing to understand what works best. Even if you use the wrong pressure, it can smear your face badly. The worst part is that i went on a site that sells professional used airbrush guns, mostly to salons and all that, there was a Q&A section and make up artists were asking how come when they use it, peoples make up smears badly and all that and many were using the wrong pressure or like i said wrong foundation. Theres also a 3rd kind that is even stronger than silicone based and is EXTREMELY heavy and again they use this for mostly photoshoots and gives a very shiny look, but again very oily and in person looks so different and heavy

ETA: my message

I was thinking the same, I'm totally stumped on this airbrush thing. I think we need to take a crash course on it.

I got married in May-definitely not summer-but it was 90 degrees and humid like no other and it never budged. i wouldnt worry about it too much.
