Summer Garden Brunch theme help

Can anybody help with ideas?

We want to keep the wedding casual and informal so we're leaning towards a garden brunch theme. (Morning wedding mass with brunch starting around 1).

I also want to incorporate butterflies because my grandmother always called me her butterfly and it also represents new life.

Any ideas will be GREATLY appreciated. The only thing I have come up with so far is that my sister (MOH) can wear a cocktail length pastel floral dress and a butterfly release.

THANKS!

This is random but I saw someone set up the seating cards in tiny watering cans and all the tables were themed after flowers. I'm getting married in june 2009 and I love the garden theme. Not sure how I will incorporate it into my wedding, but I love the idea. Best of luck!

Oh this is easy!

if you want to DIY it , go to places like AC Moore or Michaels and get thsoe galvanzied metal watering cans of the milk pitchers. You can buy flowers at a place like Sams Club, Costco, price Club etc if you or someone you know has a membership. Its REALLy cheap. Just slide the flowers into the can. It looks gorgeous and ladylike. Sprinkle rose petals around.

Like someone said, name the tables after flowers. You can even make table numbers with pictures of the flowers in a watermark and then the Number. Set them into cheap frames like from the dollar store. Wooden ones can also be painted to match your theme,

grass is good too. You can buy wheatgrass in pallets and then set your place cards on it.

Get faux butterflies and if they dont have a way to attach them to your centerpieces, you can glue them to those little clippy things and put them on a stem. Or some come on stems and you just slide em in.

You can put butterflies in your bouqet.

Give your flower girl a pair of butterfly wings and set a wreath of flowers on her head. Have her carry a little galvanized pail of rose petals rather than the traditional fussy satin basket.

Invites use an overlay or floral motif. If you DIY them (we did and they were gorgeous) they sell sets that are made of paper that has flowers pressed into it. REALLyY pretty and an inexpensive way to send an invite in your theme.

For favors you can give seed packets wrapped in pretty tulle.

We had a pseudo garden theme. Our cardbox was a watering can covered in gerber dasies but you can use any flowers. Just pull off the flowers from the stems and stick on new flower heads. I think the pics may be in my album.

Have your BMs wear florals in their hair. I had all of my girls wear a silk gerber in their hair. I put them on hair combs; cheap and beautiful.

Found some more stuff on websites for you.

Garden Theme Decorations

Look for cozy round tables, and set a large outdoor umbrella over each one. Use several layers of linens; the bottom one a solid color (not necessarily ivory or white), and the top, a coordinating print reminiscent of chintz or calico.

Use unbleached muslin and tulle to set the stage, and avoid bridal white. Choose peach, sand and mushroom tones instead – anything that complements the sepia photographs of forebears you’ll want to set on the tables. Use tea to safely dye anything you have on hand that’s just too white.

For mood lighting, you’ll want pillar candles, but not the ordinary sort – the kind that’s trimmed with small lampshades. Decorate the shades to suit the mood, with silk fringes and braids.

Comb thrift stores for colorful floral china (we routinely find full services there for cheap). Stack a larger, contrasting plate under a smaller. Use the most vivacious color combinations you can get away with.

Garden Theme Centerpieces

For a simple, one-minute centerpiece, gather a handful of old-fashioned spiral lollipops. Arrange loosely in mason jars.

To get a rise out of your guests, make or buy breadsticks redolent of thyme or rosemary, and display on end in a pitcher or galvanized bucket.

You’ll be in good 'chair' when you make these adorable centerpieces: use wrought-iron doll-sized chairs from garden stores. Lay moss or wheat grass on the seat, and twine ivy or flower garlands through the back and arms.
