Summer reading suggestions

I just finished two books I enjoyed 'The Kite Runner' and 'If You Lived Here, I'd Know Your Name' and am looking for some summer reading suggestions. I love to read. Anyone read anything good lately?

Re: Summer reading suggestions

I read the Kite Runner too and liked it a lot. This summer I want to read The Mermaid Chair. It's by the same author as The Secret Life of Bees. I'm looking for other suggestions too!

I might be slow on the uptake, but I'm loving Wicked right now! It's SOO well written, lots of depth and such beyond the surface storyline!

I loved Wicked! It took me awhile to get through, but I thought it was so worth it. You're right there are lots of themes going on!

His other books were pretty good too - can't think of the name right now, but the'Cinderella' one was great!

Not sure if you are a Jodi Piccoult fan, but most of her books are great!

If you havn't already, Check out
Queen of the South
Time Travelers Wife
Running with Scissors
Birth of Venus

I'm picky about a good novel, and these all exceeded expectations!

The Kite Runner was great! Right now I am reading 'The Way the Crow Flies' and it is really good. Long, but good. It is by Mary McDonald, the author of 'Fall on Your Knees' which was also very good and highly recommended.

For summer, I tend to read fast reads. Like the Shopaholic series -- LOVE it. They are very light books, you dont' have to think and they are very funny.

Other books I recommend:
The Glass Castle
Anna Kerinena (sp?) -- dont' let the size discourage you...it is an EXCELLENT book!
Balzac and the Chinese Seamstress
We were the Mulvaney's (sp?)

ummm...I know there are soo many books that I liked. If you are stumped, you can always look at Oprah's old book club selections, I love those books and have read them all.

Re: Summer reading suggestions

Harry Potter does come out in July--the 16th, my wedding day. I don't think I'll read this one immediately. I'm not dragging that on the plane with me!

Bel Canto is pretty good. And I loved The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime. If you haven't read Bergdorf Blondes yet, I think that's in PB now, and it's a fun book.
