Sunday Night Wedding?

Just got back from visiting a venue and it's the 1st place we really fell in love with (after seeing 7 places). The wedding coordinator was so sweet, it's beautiful, and price is FANTASTIC, for both Fridays and Sundays (the days we prefer). However, dates are really limited (like only 4-6 dates left for Fri/Sun). The Sunday price is nearly $20 cheaper than Friday, but it's a 6-11:30pm wedding (with another Sunday brunch wedding before, that probably ends at 4 or 5pm).

Has anyone ever been to a Sunday night wedding? Did most people still come? Did it seem like people were holding back if they worked the next morning?

Our parents are not thrilled at the idea of a Sunday wedding, but to be honest I wouldn't mind trying to deter some guests from coming (our list is already around 250, but we only want 175)!

Sunday Night Wedding?

Both of my cousins got married on Sundays and their receptions were at night (it was about 4 years ago so I don't remember what time they ended), and everyone stayed and had a great time. I'm sure they ended around 10-11pm though.

Sunday Night Wedding?

I never went to a Sunday evening wedding but I think those that want to be there will be there. People also have the option of taking the Monday after your wedding off. You and FH have to decide what is better for the both of you as well as your budget. We already have a few people complaining about how late our wedding is and it's on a Saturday. Go figure!

Sunday Night Wedding?

People will complain no matter what. Do what you want on the day you can afford. That extra $20pp extra for 175 people is $3500!! That's alot that you could put toward something else! The people who matter will be there no matter what and have a great time.

Sunday Night Wedding?

We are also getting married on a Sunday night!! Same thing happened to us as far as pricing hesitation. The venue offered us a Saturday night for $60 more per person as compared to the Sunday night price. At first I was a bit skeptical because of our guests working on Monday and having to leave early Sunday night. But honestly, if you are giving your guests months notice in advance, they should be able to work around their work schedule just fine.
I've also attended Sunday weddings and managed to have a great time and still managed to go to work the next day!

Sunday Night Wedding?

We are getting married on a Sunday night too! Last year, my sister got married on a Sunday night also. She has 200+ and there were still even plenty of people at the bar afterwards hanging out.

I think it's really fine!!! I'm kind of figuring a few cousins/friends who have small children (children will be invited) will still come but may find a sitter and not bring their kids that night - fine with me!! haha

My sister's wedding was a Sunday night in the summer, so probably even easier for people if you are planning something in the summer.

Other than that, I think for most people it's a non-issue. If they wanna party they will get a hotel and/or take off on Monday. If they don't they had to drive home anyways so it's not like they were going to go totally wild.

I don't think it's worth hesitating over - saves SO much money, it's a smart choice if you ask me.

Sunday Night Wedding?

I went to a wedding the Sunday before labor day this past labor day and it was great. I am also getting married the Sunday before labor day and I am looking forward to it. You will never make everyone happy. Someone always has a problem with something! It's you and your fiancé's day, no one else's!

Re: Sunday Night Wedding?

We have been. I don't remember feeling it was annoying but I was also very close to the bride and groom and was in the wedding party, so I enjoyed every minute!

Sunday Night Wedding?

I don't think 11-1130pm on a Sunday night is the end of the world. I'm up later than that usually, just watching tv, lol. BELIEVE me, when it's all said and done, the people who want to be there will be. Make the right decision for you and FH and move on!

Sunday Night Wedding?

I've been to Sunday twilight weddings. It wasn't the easiest situation since I couldn't take off from work the next day so I left an hour before it ended. I was there for all of the major events. If you're okay with the possibility of people leaving early, then I say go for it.

Sunday Night Wedding?

I'm getting married the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. I find Sunday weddings to be more popular now. The last 2 weddings I went to were on a Sunday of a holiday weekend and it felt like a Saturday wedding.

Sunday Night Wedding?

My first wedding was on a Sunday and my second wedding will be as well . I can say that we had way more RSVPs than we expected (nobody skipped the wedding because it was a Sunday) and our guests were still rocking to the band until the last song was played. Nobody held back from getting drunk just because it was a Sunday either. If anything, I remember a few people having to take off from work the next day (unexpectedly) due to hangovers.

I promise, you won't feel like it's any different than a Saturday night wedding.

Sunday Night Wedding?

We are getting married the Sunday before Columbus Day. It's going to be an evening wedding and so far no one has complained (anyone who knows anyway lol). We figured it's a less traveled/planned for holiday, so it should be ok and then everyone can come and party :)
