My shower will be held on a Sunday from 1-5pm I got a great per person deal with unlimited tea, coffee, soft drinks etc but NO Liquor. At this point and time I cannot ask my BM's or Mother to shell out any more money for anything and I certainly have other priorities.
There is a bar and guests can feel free to purchase their own drinks if they choose. I honestly did not expect people to expect alcohol on a Sunday afternoon but when I told my co-workers no alcohol they scoffed at me!
Now that I think about it, it will be VERy awkward if a guest goes to the bar thinking the drink is free only to find out they will have to pay......
What do I do? what do you think? I dont want to be a bad hostess nor do I want to look cheap BUT the venue is nice and the deal was too good to pass up.

Re: Sunday Shower: No Liquor
Well usually at a Sunday afternoon shower or Saturday afternoon shower liquor is not served only wine, punch or mimosas. So i'm sure your guests will understand .

Re: Sunday Shower: No Liquor
Oh that's absurd. What is wrong with people? I went to a shower where a glass of sangria was provided- that was it. I had a BLAST.
I'm having champagne punch at mine, I don't think open bar is necessary for a shower. Don't feel bad, your shower will be wonderful.

Re: Sunday Shower: No Liquor
Can you see if they have something where you can do mimosas and bloody marys only or white wine? That could keep the cost down. I must say, my girlfriends and I love having a nice glass of wine at these - makes it fun. But if you can't, your friends and family will be fine...it's supposed to be your day, not theirs.

Re: Sunday Shower: No Liquor
Not for nothing but, we had NO liquor of ANY kind at my shower and nobody seemed to care.
If people want to drink they will suck it up and pay for it.

Re: Sunday Shower: No Liquor
Ask if you can bring in your own champagne so you can have them make mimosa... They might just charge you a corkage fee
