I am in the early planning stages of my 2010 wedding. I am beginning to consider having a Sunday wedding to help with the cost of the wedding. Does anyone know whether Catholic churches will have wedding ceremonies on Sundays? (not a mass, just the ceremony). In particular, FH and I are looking to get married at St. Christopher's in Baldwin. Does anyone know if this church allows Sunday wedding ceremonies??
TIA!

Re: Sunday Wedding Ceremony in Church??
It used to be impossible but now it depends on the church - I would call them and see. As long as it isn't during the regularly scheduled Sunday masses, you may be ok.

if St. Christopher's doesn't do Sunday cedremonies, check St.Frances De Chantal in Wantagh (3:30) or Maria Regina in Seaford (3PM) which are not that far from Baldwin

Re: Sunday Wedding Ceremony in Church??
I'm not sure how Catholic Churches work, but I know that mine (which is non-denominational) definitely does it on Sundays as long as it's AFTER the regular service. If I were you, I'd just definitely get on top of calling them soon so that you can carry on with other plans, such as booking a hall & all that.
Good luck with all the fun (and stressful) joys of Wedding Planning

Re: Sunday Wedding Ceremony in Church??
Our church will ONLY allow a ceremony on a Sunday. There are baptisms at 2 or 2:30 and mass at 5. They fit in wedding ceremonies at 4. HTH

Re: Sunday Wedding Ceremony in Church??
My church had specific times on certain sundays of the month available.. would only schedule when they don't usually have christenings.
I booked a year and a half in advance and originally wanted a different date which was sentimental, they would NOT let me have it because they had the date pre-filled as a christening time slot.... for babies that weren't even CONCEIVED yet! So I had to pick an entirely different date.
Sounds like they all have their own rules, so I'd agree to call your church.

Re: Sunday Wedding Ceremony in Church??
My SIL got married on a Sunday in the catholic church. The ceremony was at 3 and the reception at 7.

Re: Sunday Wedding Ceremony in Church??
I am having a wedding mass on Sunday. Some churches will do it and others will NOT- There is no official 'rule' against Sunday weddings but some pastors choose not to have any weddings on Sundays...I would contact the church.
