FH went and picked out a tux today - I couldn't be there b/c I'm away for work. BIG question:
For a July 22 wedding would or did your guys go with or without a VEST? FH picked a tie rather than the bow tie look. I like the vest look, but I would imagine they'd be hot as heck. What does everyone think? FH sweats pretty quickly - don't want him to be dripping in pictures. Wedding is scheduled to be outdoors weather permitting in around noon. I want them to look good and be comfortable. What does everyone think?
If you have pics of guys in their tux with a tie that isn't a bow tie and no vest - please post, would love to see...

My thought for a wedding is to go with something other than just a shirt when the take off their jacket. Being in the summer, you know they will and to help them stand out from other guests, I'd do either a vest or at least suspenders.
If you can wear your 20 pound gown with slip and undergarments all day, then your guys can make it with a simple skimpy vest! That won't make or break their internal temp!

I like the vest and regular tie look, that's what our guys wore in June; tho it wasn't very hot yet.
If you're concerned about the heat, they can wear what (I think) are called 'open backed vests'. That should be cooler than a full vest.
ETA pic: Something like this.

DH wore a tux and vest for our hot July 15th wedding. He rented an extra shirt and brought an extra undershirt with him so that he could change in case his clothes got too sweaty.

What a FABULOUS idea, I am going to mention that to FH so he doesn't feel all nasty if he sweats...can I get an extra dress to change into as well???

We are doing a vest. If I am wearing a hot dress, he can suck up the vest for a few pictures. Plus, most of the day we will be inside.

I would have FH ask the tuxedo shop about a new lightweight material that's out. It's a little more money, but the quality is incredibly, and it's much lighter than the other tuxes. I know Dante Tuxedos in Wesbury carries them.

I like the vest - I know it's june and it's hot... but after the pics & the grand entrance they could take them off.

I too like the vest... I think it looks great... I'm sure they'll be okay... after all the hall is air conditioned right? I don't think the vests will make them feel too much hotter either. But if you like the look of the tux w/o the vest then try it out! But if it's just a heat issue I don't think you have to worry

those tuxes use material called super 100, super 110 and super 120. something to do with the weight of the wool. super 120s are the lightest. Ralph Lauren does super 100 or 110 and Jos Abboud has a very nice super 120. but not all the rental stores rent out these tuxes. alot do sales only.
Gino's rents them and we went to Feldman Esquire in Merrick who is doing a special order for us for them.
I think the backless vest is a good idea too. and the regular ties rather than bow ties seems to be the in thing these days.
