I found this awesome birdcage in Marshalls! It was only $10!!! I had to buy it and it looks just like the one I liked from save-on crafts...
How are they supposed to put cards in it though?? It has a latch on top to open it, and a little door...should I use a wire cutters and make the slits bigger??
FH thought I was nuts when he saw that I bought a birdcage and that he had to carry it home because we walked there...
I saw one like this before but I can't remember where... As far as the slits, you can maybe cut a few wires to open it up. I think it's so cute!!

so cute! I don't think you need to do anything with it. I think people will see the latch on top and know to open it and put the card in

I would keep one opening some where and then maybe put tulle inside of it so that you can only get cards in and not out.

YES! I got my birdcage from Marshall's also! I paid $12! Then I retured the $30 card box that I originally bought. I have the same problem with mine as you do. I think that I'm just going to leave it as it is, and have guests open the top to put the cards inside. I'm not going to decorate the top either, I'm just putting a ribbon band around the center. Maybe a couple of flowers. IDK. Congrats!!!!!

Are you nervous about people stealing the envelopes?? Not that I think anyone would but I guess there's a reason why some people put locks on the top part and put the slits in....
If anyone else is interested it was at the Marshalls in Rego Park, Queens. They had 2 more in my size, 2 smaller ones and one that was a lot bigger..

I don't think that I'll have a thief problem at the wedding, BUT you never know! I do like the tuile idea though. I'm gonna look online to see pics of how it's done.

I LOVE IT, I brought mines from Save on Crafts. But I want to also make a big slits and keep the latch closed. When you figure it out, can you please post it.
