Help!!! The FH and I were set to book the Surf Club, my sister had her wedding there and we loved it. However, yesterday at the last minute we went to see Marina Del Rey and really like that too!! Now we don't know which to choose! They are both the same price. MDR is closer because we live in Bayside, but the surf club is going to be all redone!! Any info/reviews would be great!!!! Thanks!

Re: Surf Club vs Marina Del Rey
I haven't seen surf club but i've seen marina del rey.
I didn't like that the place had only 1 bathroom for both parties. And the bathroom was right across the hall from the other party. And same coat check and the bridal suites are right next to one another.
Brides are def going to be running into one another.

Re: Surf Club vs Marina Del Rey
I looked at both Marina DeL Rey and Surf Club
My Fh and I felt that Marina was cheaper but they didn't give you that much food, like the menu was only one page back and front. It is new inside and food is good.
Surf Club was our choice b.c they gave us much more food which is what really wanted. Also a major factor was the fact that it is going to be brand new, so when your sister got married to now it will be a total different experience for you and your guest. I also feel that Surf is more elegant than Marina but that is my opinion
Good Luck

Re: Surf Club vs Marina Del Rey
I have been to my close friends wedding at Marina Del Rey, and we are getting married at the Surf Club. Now Marina Del Rey is cool because you can have your ch on the boat if you choose to. I didn't like the fact that it had 1 bathroom and 1 coatcheck, but other than that, they had great food, a nice ballroom and beautiful views. If choose to get married there, you are married on the patio by water... Which has a clear view of the bridges...
Here's why we LOVE the surf club. The food is awesome! I don't normally eat pasta when we go to restaurants or catering halls because I'm Italian and anything that is not al dente is a turnoff, but the chef is from Italy, and conveys his knowledge through his cooking. I tasted the pasta and it was like my grandma's! EXCELLENT! The views from the patio that peer into the long island sound remind me of Italy. If you choose to get married at the RH, The surf club has a gazebo on the beach. We booked the grand ballroom which is slightly bigger than marina del reys. Looks wise, I think the Surf Club is slightly brighter than Marina Del Rey. Marina Del Rey is great for a touch of city life. The Surf Club is reminiscent of the beaches of Italy....
Both are great choices and come highly recommended. I have two friends getting married at the marina del rey next summer. And there are plenty of us getting married at the Surf Club. Of course I would say book the Surf club since we did, but def. Book what makes you happiest :)
Good Luck!

Re: Surf Club vs Marina Del Rey
Well, I've never been to the surf club, but I did get married at MDR...it was amazing.
My family is super Italian and 6 months later, they are still raving about the food. There was sooo much food, I almost felt like it was too much. lol. The place is beautiful, they treat you like royalty. The ballrooms are on opposite ends of the place and the weddings are scattered time-wise. I did not see the other bride until we left, and only bc she was waiting for her limo which was late!
Umm, if you have any other Qs, feel free to Fm me or ask on this post. Like, I said I've never been to surf club, so I have no opinion about that.

Re: Surf Club vs Marina Del Rey
So we went to MDR and Surf Club yesterday and have decided to have it at MDR. My sister and one of FHs friends had their weddings at Surf Club and they were both excellent, but I think it will be nice to have a RH of our own. It really was a toss up bc I have heard great things about both!! Even one of the guys at the Surf Club said he couldn't say anything bad about MDR and it was a hard choice! So thank you for alll your help and advice!!
And Deeluvsinny...thanks for the info on MDR! Congrats!! Which room did you have your wedding in?
