Surgery before wedding

Surgery before wedding

I had a routine exam a couple months ago and my doctor found multiple nodules on my thyroid. I had to have 9 biopsies taken from my neck and thank God they came back benign. My doctor told me last week that I need to have my thyroid taken out due to the size. I've been extremely upset about having the surgery for the last few weeks but I am starting to come to terms with the situation. I also just realized now I will have a scar at the base of my neck for the wedding. I am going to look for a nice necklace to cover it up. I was wondering if there was anyone else in the same boat? Is anyone else trying to cover a scar, birthmark, tattoo and if so, how are you hiding it?

A great makeup artist can do wonders. You're going to look so beautiful, no one's going to focused on your scar.

Thank goodness everything was benign... you'll be fine with the surgery and not having the thyroid is totally manageable. Prayers for speedy recovery!

I knew a girl who just had it the scar isn't terrible. I have 3 scars on my left arm from past surgeries I can't really cover them up b.c of the location and size. My doc wants me to have another surgery and is pushing for it before nov but I am trying to hold out since ill be in a cast for almost 3 months. Surgeries suck :( I hope your surgery goes well and you have a quick recovery

awww.. I am so sorry to hear that you have to go through this, especially before your wedding. I am sure it is so stressful, but finding this now and taking care of it is really important. Always better to find these thing sooner than later.

You will for sure find something beautiful to make the scar show less.. best of luck!!

Kat Von Dee has some pretty amazing tattoo cover make ups, you can try that on the scar. If they do it correctly you should only have a thin line.
Good luck

Just a quick question- have you gotten a second opinion?

And I bet the MUA can cover it

I got my necklace from imitations, and it is big!

I had thyroid surgery when I was 15. It healed pretty well. It just looks like a line on my neck. I want to say that I was out and about and going clubbing less than a week later. I had this done more than 20 years ago and I know that the surgery will be less invasive and will probably amount to only a tiny scar.

Hey girls, thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers ...I'm going to see an ENT who specializes in thyroid surgery tomorrow. I have a feeling he is going to tell me the same thing since the nodules are so large. Lol FH used to call the lump on my neck an `Eve's orange' instead of an Adam's apple. We thought it was normal.

Glad everything is ok!! Talk to your MUA about it so that they are prepared with the right makeup. I'm sure your scars will be no big deal! Prayers for you...

My girlfriend had this done about 2 years ago. Honestly, you can not even see the scar. I wouldnt try to cover it with a necklace. I think that would bring more attention to the spot.

Honestly, you really can not see it.
