'Surpise' Shower is no longer a 'Surprise'

'Surpise' Shower is no longer a 'Surprise'

So, my mom worked SO hard to keep my shower a surprise. She had me doing something every single Sunday between August and September (from BBQs to Retirement Parties, you name it!!). I got a voicemail from one of my Bridesmaids last night that said 'I can't wait to see you on Sunday, I am so excited'. Needless to say, I have no plans with her on Sunday. I don't want my mom to know. What should I do??? Just not call my BM back until after the shower and pretend that I never got her message??? My mom will really be devestated if I know. And she will be SOOOO mad at my BM for telling me. Should I just act surprised? Please Help!!

I think you answered your own question. Don't call BM back, pretend you never got message, and act as surprised as you possibly can when you walk in and 'realize' you are at your shower.

I Agree.. Just act suprised. Your mom & everyone else worked so hard to make this a suprise for you.

this could be true, but in case it's not, don't say anything, ignore the message and act surprised, and never tell your mom!

if it's really is this sunday, I'm sorry your surprise was ruined

The same thing happened to me...my Mom worked so hard to keep my shower a surprise, even going so far as to have 'fake' invitations printed up for my sister's graduation party...the week before I was at a shower for a friend and her FH said 'so your shower's next weekend huh?'

I was so upset, always thought my shower would be a surprise, etc. I didn't tell my Mom...I called my aunt and cried on the phone about it instead....Mom found out eventually that I knew, but not that day...

I say call someone else to vent, but don't let on to Mom!

Thanks so much for all of your advice. I'm pretty sure that it is not just to throw me off because I told my FH and he tried to play it off for a few minutes, but I told him that I am not stupid. I know that I need to act surprised, but I am really angry at my BM for telling me. I'm going to work on my surprised face for the next two days. My mom just called me to go get a manicure with her tomorrow. She is so cute!!

Awwwww I feel bad! Def act suprised but I think I wouldnt be able not to say something to my BM that day- like, you did know this was a suprise right? so why did you leave me a message regarding today? I give you credit if you dont say anything to her.

Your BM is probably trying to trick you. Every one planning the party knows the bridal shower is a surprise, so she probably wouldn't have called and left that message knowing it was a surprise. So I bet your shower is not this sunday.

Hey, no biggie, my shower is this Saturday, and my fh let the cat out of the bag earlier this week by accident. My mom worked very hard as well to keep it a surprise. I will pretend not to know when I arrive at the house. As for your situation, I would call the bm back and let her know she let the cat out of the bag, and laugh about it. Your Mom doesn't need to know you know.

Re: 'Surpise' Shower is no longer a 'Surprise' - Update

So, my shower was yesterday...I did not mention the fact that the BM told me about it, but the surprise was actually ruined again when I saw my cousin in the parking lot of the restaurant. I came to the conclusion that surprise or not the whole Bridal Shower thing is completely overwhelming. Oh my God, I wish someone would have warned me about how crazy it would feel walking in to a room and having 50 people yell out 'Surprise'. I actually had a great time and got fabulous gifts. My mom said that she suspected that I knew but was glad that I 'played along', so it all worked out in the end. Thanks for all of your advice!!

Glad to hear that it all worked out. It is definitely overwhelming, I felt the same way at my shower yesterday.

I would say, just act surprised!!! You only really know the day, you don't know where and what time so that'll be a surprise. As for your BM, duh!!! She should have know better, but that's assuming it really is on Sunday... Either way, just have fun!!!
