I read a few threads lately and saw brides planning their own showers. I thought the bride was supposed to be surprised at her shower, and the party was planned by family members or friends?
Am I like totally wrong about this?

not wrong... but some brides hate surprises...
i know the date of mine because i have to fly over 3000 miles away..but as far as everything else, they are planning it.

I hate surprises too, but I thought the party was thrown in the bride's honor, but not by the bride?

I don't have a Bridal Party, my MOH is in NY, and the shower is in DC.
I had to help her find some options of places, dates, etc. A surprise was just impractical for us.

Mine is/was supposed to be a surprised but that was ruined but a chain of events so now I have to act surprised since my mom and sister dont know a thing about me knowing

just gve my sis my list of guests today. so all i know is that iam having one. i HATE surprises. but i guess i have to just wait and see. :)

I guess those brides that pretty much plan their shower have an open mind about it, my MOH planned her own babyshower even though we implored her to let us do it, but she likes to be involved in things she likes so she ended up planning the whole thing!

I love surprises so i'm having a surprise bridal shower but it is hard not to figure it out. One of my good friends was completely involved with hers because she doesn't like surprises so I guess it could go either way.

I know I've seen that also...I def dont want to know about my shower...for once in my life I want to be surprised...but knowing my luck I'll see the invite planted on someone's refrigerator...lol...

Typically they are surprises, but some ppl don't mind if the bride is involved...my mom refused to let me in on it....I just told my mom and sister that I want to look nice so to either tell me the day of so I can dress nice or really make sure the place they tell me I'm going makes me dress nicely.
I actually know my shower is in March through a litle slip up from someone

I really wanted mine to be a surprise but, just like Santa...my older sister ruined it and told me the truth. It worked out though, TWOTY is the same day. LOL.

Some brides like to be involved in the planning but I personally want it to be a complete surprise - hence why I am resisting the ever so much fun registry stalking!

i am giving them a 'list' of everthing that i want including the things that i dont want (like some tacky hole in the wall restaurant)
I want outside backyard comfortable with flowers and fun and no time frame!

Mine will be a surprise as well. I was under the impression only my MOH was hosting it....but FH spilled the beans Monday by telling me FMIL and my mom are hosting as well. Which I'm glad bc my MOH and BM's all live in Miami, and their plane tickets and shower can b expensive.

me too!!! i'm never surprised! I really hope they're able to surprise me for my shower!
