It's the New York Yankees. For some it's the only team to love. For others, it's the team they love to hate. Either way, the Yankees are the nation's most popular baseball team, according to a new Harris Poll of 3,278 adults who were surveyed online. Coming in a very close second are the Atlanta Braves. This survey was conducted annually from 1993 to 1999, and the Braves won the top spot every one of those years--until now. The Yankees came in first with 17 percent of the fans choosing them and the Braves got second place in this popularity contest with 11 percent--a substantial lead over all the other Major League Baseball teams. The New York Mets at No. 3 got just 6 percent of the vote, and it goes down from there. The bottom three teams--Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Toronto Blue Jays, and Montreal Expos--received less than 1 percent of the vote!
