SusanS-Harrison House Question!!

Susan. thanks for your help on my price/person botanical gardens question. I actually live about 15 min from the Harrison House and that was one of my final choices (i actually think i am going to go with it for our engagement party now) just curious...why did you pick it over the botanical gardens? And...is that price for september or winter months...i know they started kind of high around the same area as botanical i was just wondering if they were more negotiable than botanical gardens. THANKS.

Re: SusanS-Harrison House Question!!

I didn't even look at the Botanical Gardens.
It was on my short list, but we were sold on HH on the day we went to see it, for quite a few reasons.
We really liked the convenience of the hotel on site and the upstairs bar for an after party. We have quite a few out of towners and the logistics of transportation, hotels, etc., all had to be considered.
And when we heard $125 pp. (my list was all in the range of $150-$200, as I'm sure yours was) we HAD TO book it. It was the first and only venue we looked at.

It does work out to closer to $160 once you work in all the extra little fees but still well worth it, IMO so to be honest, we didn't even TRY to negotiate on price. We just knew we wouldn't be adding in any extras like a viennese hour in order to keep it down. We tried to negotiate the minimum, but no luck. We were told that if we fell short that they would just give us extra food or something like an extra station or a few more appetizers.

My price is for a peak night, Saturday but an off peak month, January.
For peak I believe they wanted $150 per person and the minimum was higher: 175 instead of 150.
We're getting 3 stations, 8 passed trays, open bar, appetizer, salad, 3 selection of entrees, 1 dessert and wedding cake.
Hope that helps.
