Esteban Carpio, accused of shooting and killing Providence Police Detective James Allen on Sunday, April 17, 2005, at police headquarters with the officer's gun, is led into court Monday, April 18, 2005, to be arraigned in Rhode Island District Court. Carpio, whose face appeared bruised and bloody, did not enter a plea. Police said he injured his leg, arm and head when he jumped from a third floor window at the police building after the shooting.
Is it me, or do you suspect that police beat this guy up? How could one end up looking like this my jumping from a building? Man... how many times did he jump???

Very suspicious to me... the circumstances seem to strongly point toward police beating his a$$!!!

If he landed on his face he could. Either way, even if it were the police, IMO they were COMPLETELY justified. They should have killed him.

Authorities said Carpio jumped out of a third-floor window, injuring his leg, arm and head, and was captured after a struggle a few blocks away. There was no indication that police used excessive force to subdue him, Police Chief Dean Esserman said.
I would imagine this guy didn't just throw his hands up in the air and surrender. His face is probably a result of his 'struggle'.
Justified in my book.

Re: Suspect of RI detective killed
When this guy jumped from the 4rd floor, he got up and took off running...bloody and all..and he did struggle when they did finally catch him. But, I also feel that if he was beaten, it was justified...
That Mask is to protect his abrasians from getting infected by germs, etc...
Either way, this story sickens me. ITs another sad week for us here in Rhode Island.

Did anyone see his family flipping out in court when they saw him. I am really curious to find out if they were that outraged when they found out about him stabbing the senior citizen (which is why he was originally arrested) or him killing the cop.

Re: Suspect of RI detective killed
I saw the 'outrage' of his famiy/friends...but the night before, his 'girlfriend' was on tv saying that she warned the police that he was nuts, etc...and the neighbors said he used to hit on his girlfriend and she was always calling the cops on him....
THis SUspect deserves to rot in hell.
THe wake was tonight for Detective Sargeant Allen at a funeral home that is very close to our apartment...it took us 25 minutes t get to our apartment becuase of all the traffic..ut iot was worth it...we just sat and waited, watched the outpouring of love, and finally made it to our apartment.
