Swan Club Food-Repost from 2011 Brides

Hi Laides,

FH & I are seriously considering booking the swan club-i've read through a lot of threads and brides reveiews and i keep getting mixed feed back on their food! I plan on going to their showcase tomorrow to taste their CH food; but I've seen a lot of posts about people being disappointed with the food at the showcase. On the flip side people who have gone for the lunch to taste the entrees rave about the food.

I guess b/c they cook SO much at the showcase (and since it's free) they really can't put the special touch they would for an actual wedding. For that reasoning i would understand if the food fell short on the night of the showcase. However i don't think FH & I will be able to make it in for lunch during the week anytime before we would actuall want to book the hall (we both work in manhattan). Just trying to get honest opinions on the food there. That's pretty much the MOSt important factor.

I'm sure the food there is amazing; all the Brides Reviews have comments that people are always happpy about the food. Just want to make sure my guests like it just as much from their first impression w/the CH to their last bite of desert :)

I plan to be at the showcase tomorrow as well, and I've been to the restaurant for lunch. The food was really good, better than I thought it would be actually. The mixed food reviews scare me because they're from showcases and the reception dinner, not the CH (unless I've missed something). If you're seriously considering booking with them, I'd really try to leave work early one day or you and FH play hookey, it's worth knowing. You really need something to compare the showcase food to.

Actually the only food I ate at cocktail hour was things from the seafood bar – and it’s 6 months later and everyone still tells me how awesome that was! Oh and I did have fried calamari and that was really good too.

Our entrée choices were Prime Rib, Chicken Sorrentino, Eggplant Rollatini and the Salmon. DH had prime rib and loved it and I had the chicken which was good, but honestly I think I only ate about two bites bc I was so excited. Our guests all said their food was good too, although I don’t know if anyone would have told me if it s*cked.

Thanks we really do need to try to make their lunch to taste the food. I don't want my only opinion to based on what I try tomorrow night.

Not to knock Swan Club or any other venue I've never been to, but I would think that especially with a place that has more than one wedding at a time that the food at the showcase is a lot closer to what you'll get at a wedding than what you'd get at lunch.

I honestly feel like you're not going to get GREAT food at any RH but it should be edible and 'good.' Good Luck!

Not to knock Swan Club but that was the reason why they werent on the short list...my bp and I went to the showcase and we didnt like the food. The price was cheaper than the place we booked but I could not risk the food tasting the way it did. it might have been an off night for them or something but I would make the decision by tasting the food and seeing if you and your FH like it.

It's tomorrow (1/28) @ 7pm. I think they ask people to RSVP just to get an idea of how many people are attending.

I think they'll only have cocktail hour food at tomorrow showcase. The reception meals are available to try during their lunch.

So the negative food comments from the showcases have been on their cocktail hour food.

I just had my E-party there this past Sat. We had 85 people. Almost every person has called, emailed, or texted us to thank us for the great party and the impressive food. And my family is Greek and Italian and super picky with food. Everything was fresh and delicious. Our CH was in the Afterdeck and food was insane. Everyone was raving about everything. Our party was in the Contessa and we did 3 choices for entree (Salmon, Prime Rib, or Chicken Wellington). I had the Prime Rib and it was cooked perfectly. No complaints. I work in catering halls for a living and have had food at many venues and highly recommend Swan Club!!

I will definitely be there tonite but I'll be honest. My final two were Swan Club and Jerich Terrace. My mom liked JT better and I was almost there with her, except for the grounds. The grounds at SC, + Jordana (my BM) ultimately sold me. But if the food at SC is ok or so-so, not good or great, I will be very angry
