Any suggestions on whether I should have a friday evening wedding vs. sunday evening. All the saturday nights are taken, except for Oct 17, but I would like a summer wedding. Can anyone help with the pros and cons for each?

It depends on what you are looking for. With enough notice, people will take off Friday afternoon or the whole day and will be able to party it up on your wedding night. Usually however, CH starts late enough on a Friday where they will not have to take off from work. Guests then have all of Saturday and Sunday to recover.
Sunday weddings, at least the one's I've been to...if they are in the evening, we're checking our watches around 8:30 because we have to work the next day. JMO.

I've gone to both friday and sunday weddings and for me either day is fine. If it was somebody I was very close to and had enough notice then I just took off that day, well I did this once so far lol. Other times CH does start late so most do have time to get home, get ready quick and get to CH on time. Keep in mind though that for ceremony even though some would like to make it, there will be those who won't be able to bc of work. But honestly, even if it was on a Saturday, you would still have people who wouldn't make it for ceremony.
Sunday-for some reason every wedding I attended in 07 and there were quite a few, they were all on sunday's. All were in the evening too and ended around midnight. I will say that most guests stayed until the end of very close to the end. DH and I always stayed until the end too and we were able to dance and have fun the same way we would with any other night. I didnt mind getting home late and waking up early the next day. I never sleep early to begin with so i was used to going to bed late and waking up early, we just dealt with being a lil tired the next day. SO to get home at 1am and wake up at 6am for me is fine lol.

i would do a fri evening instead... just dont like the idea of a sun night wedding ending late... fyi, im a sun afternoon at swan club

its up to you, the only reason i prefer sunday over friday is because i dont have to take off of work for a sunday wedding...friday weddings are hard for me because of work, and i have to find someone to pick up my daughter from school...but thats my situation, for somepeople a friday might be easier.

I would def. do friday b/c a lot of people have work on Mondays and might have to leave your wedding early if its a Sunday evening wedding. I picked a Friday night because I wanted my guests to party and not have to worry about having work the next day. I am aware that some people might not make it to the church (b/c some would be getting out of work), but I figured they could still make it to my reception.

We picked Friday only bc we didn't want people to be worrying about going to work the next day. Everyone might not be able to make it to the church bc of work and stuff, but I know my family and close friends will and that's all that matters. Plus we sent out STDs early so everyone has plenty of notice to take time off.
