Swap Hostess Question

OK ladies I need some help--since the christmas card and recipe page are my first swaps I am really stuck on what to include for the hostess--and I don't want to be a 'bad guest'-- I was thinking now that I have gotten into quilling-- would making some of those be good to include? or is that too 'cheap'(For lack of a better word)--Ugh maybe I am the only one who is clueless but would love some help as I hope to get both of my packages ready for the mail within a week or so
