This interview was pretty weird ... the HR guy I met with was cool, the mgr I would be working for really didn't *interview* me (can't really explain it) and he boss chased me down to say hi (we only spoke on the phone).

My friend (and several former co-workers, including the manager who hired me into MCI which I completely forgot about) works for the company, so it was almost like I came in as a formality (either because they are going to offer me the job or they were just going thru the motions since I was an employee referral ) - really not sure!!!

That does sound mysterious! Did they say anything noteworthy when you left? As in, 'we'll call you' or 'get in touch next week' or anything? Weird.

That could be promising! DH's interview for his current job was kinda like that & it was pretty much a formality, b/c he knew someone.
