Re: swine whine
I work in the Broadway Theatre industry (for a big ticketing company) and we've had some travel groups cancel on us - groups that were coming in from Mexico, Brazil and Central America.
But as far as precautions here at work...nothing. I take the subway everyday and can't really get around that. Everyone else here does, too. So anyone can just carry that germ on in through the door. Ick.
I'm just keeping myself healthy. Lots of water, multi-vitamin, exercise, healthy food. Washing my hands a lot. Not touching my face.
IMO the media is really blowing this up - the media can really scare the daylights out of people. Treat it like you would when the flu hits our area in the winter - just take care of yourself. If you don't, who will?

Nope..and I work in a school. Then again, I think by now everyone knows the precauations yada yada...its been blasted EVERYWHERE on the news.
I'm not too worried, if I get it I get it, they say its children and elderdly you must worry about - I just been washing my hand a bit more thats all and using sanitizer at the gym.
BUT - I did see a woman on OPRAH yesterday who got flesh eating bacteria from a cut while chopping celery and had to have her whole arm and part of her chest cut out. Thats freaking me out more than the swine flu

Re: swine whine
They sent out the 'preparedness manual' at work and it's starting to freak me out!!! I work in the Medical Examiners office so this is expected b/cit has our plan of action. It also, however, has 'worst case scenarios' so I keep imagining the worst!!! No help from the media either.
The only somewhat good thing is my cousin was one of the kids from st. francis prep who caught it and he's out and about after getting over it all ready. Now his dad (my uncle has it) but he's not doing as bad as the news makes it out to be either!!!

actually they are saying usually with the flu its just children and elderly that should worry but with this it really effects young ppl in their 20's-30's who are healthy.
My job hasnt said anything, i was worried bc my managers sons all go to St. Francis prep, so coming in on monday i was a bit worried but once i came in on monday he was on the phone with somebody and said how his kids went to the doc on the weekend and they were fine.

Re: swine whine
Sending glocal braodcast email updating people on the stages. We're recommended people who are not feeling well or who have traveled to Mexico in the last 7 days to see a doctor or stay home until they feel better. The indubation period is 24-48 hours...usually most ppl are okay. The funny thing is...one guy is pissed and wants to come to work...calls all day every day. Geez....

I work for a extremely large hospital and we have been in high alert for the past week or so. Our child and adolescent psych ER was moved to a different building to accomdate everyone coming into the ER.

I work in the NY Catholic Center. They installed hand sanitizers on every floor near the elevators and sent a memo out yesterday just giving basic ways to keep everyone healthy (basic common sense stuff). They also provided several phone numbers to call in case an employee of the building is diagnosed with it so they can let them know.

Re: swine whine
nothing has been said at work yet. i am a worry wart & think i am going to get sick all the time since i take 6 trains a day. (2 to get to work, 2 to get to school, & 2 to get home) so i always have hand sanitizer on me & i am constantly washing my hands. the college website has a link with news articles to read. one of the high school near my house was closed as of yesterday afternoon. i just received an e-mail from one of my professors that her & her husband both have flu symptoms so our class is canceled.
