What kind do you have? Are they necessary? So far we have a Kick and Play bouncer and a excersaucer, but we didn't register for a swing. I know they are only used until about 25 lbs, and we will have limimted space, so I'm not sure if it's a must.

Re: Swings
whats the kick n play? JA's LOVESSSS his swing. maybe you can get the small carryalong type swing. BABIES LOVEEE the motion of swings. you MUST buy one. an exersaucer is pretty bulky too. i think a swing is more important. an exersaucer you wont need for at least another 4 months. a swing is awesome right away.

Re: Swings
The kick and play is a bouncer by Fischer Price. I know, the excersaucer is huge, I'm not sure if I should return it, or store it until 5-6 months.

Re: Swings
We have a Graco and the Fisher Price Take along. Although the babies don't love love them, it is a place to put them down for a minute!
The take along one is good - it folds up small, and out of the way and you can have something to put the baby in when you go out.

Re: Swings
Emma has the kick-n-play and SHE LOVED IT!!!!! We also had the Graco swing that went side to side and back and forth... she wasnt a big fan of the swing. She only fell asleep in it maybe 10 times. She prefered the kicknplay. We also had the take along swing and she was facinated by the lights.
Since you are tight on space see if you can get the take along swing... its compact and if the kick-n-play doesn't work for your or like it did for Emma then you can use the swing like John Anthony.

Re: Swings
About the exersauser (sp?) Emma started using hers at 4 months. SHE LOVED IT!!! but at 7 months it was in the attic because she learned to crawl and didnt want to be confined anymore. Even though it was a short time we used it for it was GREAT to have.

Re: Swings
It's so confusing and frustrating not knowing what our baby will like!! I guess it's trial and error? If we had lots of money and space I guess I wouldn't care as much....

Re: Swings
Niha- you have the same bouncer that I want to get. I really want a swing. I think most babies- not all- enjoy it plus you can put the baby in the swing and get a few things done.

Re: Swings
Someone gave us the Take Along Swing as a gift and Luke hated it right from the beginning. I ended up selling it on ebay. The music was weird and the toys were right in his face so I can't say I blame him.
My SIL lent us her swing but if I were to buy one, I'd go with the one Karen mentioned that had a cradle feature - side to side - and the standard forward swing. Fisher Price has one I know.
I'd keep the Exesaucer and just store it. Luke uses his now and it's great. HTH

Re: Swings
I have the swing that rocks back and fortha nd side to side. Julianne is addicted to it. When I need to work( most of the tiome) she sits in it and watches the wqiggles or baby einstein. She even sleeps in it at times...it is the only thing that soothes her sometimes.
be aware that the travels wings are ncie, ut you can only use it until baby is about 15 pounds. please ck b4 u buy. regarding the execsaucer...up to you. if you return it, save the $$ to go and buy it when your little one is ready- they may have a newer model by then

Re: Swings
We have the Graco open top swing, with a reclining seat - in Saratoga plaid - (not that it's important!) Paul LOVED the swing right away and we used it every single day. The music had different volumes and the swing had a multitude of speeds. It was a real help in the early months of Paul's life - he slept in the swing quite often. However, we never used our bouncer seat b/c he didn't like it. I was so disappointed b/c all of my friends said their kids LOVED the bouncer seat and my kid ended up hating it!
Paul LOVED his exersaucer thingy. He didn't use it until 4 1/2-5 months old, but we are still using it now. We bought one that comes apart and forms a figure eight-shaped train track, so that he can play with the tracker that came w/it. We just used it this past weekend and he LOVED it!

Re: Swings
I think I'm going to get the exact same swing that you have Claud, it sounds like it will be useful. We have the Graco Saratoga infant car seat (but like you said not that it matters, not like they have to match LOL)!! I just like the features on the swing.
