I am getting married in my home parish and picked a priest that married my cousin. We have met with him once. He is ok as a person, but gave a good homily at my cousin's wedding and that was why I picked him. Well, I work in a Catholic School and the parish where I work just got a new pastor. I love him. He is very personable, relates everything to everyday life, and is just an awesome priest. Which leads me to a few questions: 1) Would you keep the original priest or try to switch? 2) If I did switch, is it very involved to have a priest from outside the parish come to your home parish to marry you? (keeping in mind I work in a Catholic School) I already know I don't want two priests. Any opinions are appreciated!!

1) If you really think you are more confortable with the new priest- then I say do it!
2)Its not very involved to have priest come to your parish. My cousin is a priest in NJ and he is coming to FH parish in Bayside to marry us. All he had to do was get in touch with the parish priest that you are dealing with at your parish and let him know that he will be marring you. I let the parish know beforehand. Also if the priest is from outside NY he has to be certified by the dioscese to perform marriages here. My cousin has done weddings in NY before so he is already certified. Thats about it!
