Has anyone ever been there? What cities are the nicest to go to? And can you see another country thats close to there? We would probably have about 8 or 9 days.

Re: Switzerland anyone?
A friend of mine has visited Switzerland many times and she said you can travel to Italy very easily.
FH's brother lived in Geneva for 6 months and he said it was beautiful

You must must go to Lugano! It's on the Italian border so you can go to Italy as well. Just an FYI. If you rent a car in Switzerland they do not allow you to go to another country with the car.
Thanks guys. We were in Italy last year so I want to go to someplace new. I would love to go to Switzerland and maybe a day trip to Germany or something that like. Or Austria. Does anyone know how far certain cities are? And does the train take you there?

Re: Switzerland anyone?
We drove from the French Riviera (Monaco) to Switzerland during our honeymoon. What a drive!
We stayed in Lake Luzern, Switzerland for a week. It was beautiful and we'll definitely be back (DH wants to do a Switzerland/Austria/Germany trip.)

the train takes you ANYWHERE!!!
I know the Germany border is about 40 minutes from Zurich...otherwise...I am not sure of times from Switzerland..
but Munich is 2 hours from the border...Salzberg is 2 hours from Munich...

We want to do this too! But I'd also like to add Italy/Belgium/Czech into the trip. Guess we'll have to split it into two trips

We stayed a few days in Switzerland on our honeymoon! While we did love it, I have to say that we were not WOW'ed with Lugano!
It was nice...but not what I expected from hearing other reviews....I expected it to be jaw-droppingly (if that's even a word) beautiful....I thought the architecture was very 70's too....lol...this is just my opinion though.... Here are a few pic's: It wasn't a long drive from Italy at all....
This picture is pretty great!

Sage- your pics are beautiful!
Does anyone know if Austria is a nice country to visit? Do you think we can do like 5 days touring Switzerland and 3 days in Rome? Too far? We would fly obviously but do you think that's too much?
I try to cram as much in as possible when we travel overseas because it's not like we can go there so often. Last year we did Milan, Florence and Venice in 9 days and we were not rushed.

I definitely think you could do Switzerland and Rome in 9 days....(flying obviously).
You might want to start in Rome (the hectic part of the trip) and end up in Switzerland...(a bit more relaxing)
When are you going?

That's a good idea to start in Rome. We're looking at going at the end of August.
What other towns in Switzerland would u hit?

Although I've never been, I want to go to Luzern, St. Moritz, Zurich.... I have heard amazing things about Luzern....
We were supposed to go to Luzern and St.Moritz on our honeymoon as well but turned out we didn't have the time b/c we wanted a full 2 weeks just in Italy.
So excited for you....
I am leaving for pais in 2 weeks and am SO excited!

Paris? Where are you staying? Have you been before? I LOVE Paris. Shopping is dangerous there! I would love to go back. DH wasn't actually a big fan though.
Do you know how hard it is to drive in Switzerland? Can we rent a car and drive to Luzern, St. Moritz and end in Zurich? That's alot in 5 or 6 days but maybe we would only do a day trip to St. Moritz.

Re: Switzerland anyone?
We went there for part of our honeymoon.
Here are the cities we stayed in:
Zermatt (OUR FAVORITE, it's like Shangri-La! No cars allowed, only electric carts and horses and buggy!....It's so beautiful!!!!!!!...I'll post pics)
St. Moritz (very very flashy, jet-set type of place).
Lucern, also another favorite of ours
Geneva, we thought it was so-so
Zurich, we LOVED our hotel, The Dolder Grand.
IF you can take the Glacier Express do it! It is amazing, it's a train ride thorugh the mountains, oh, breathtaking!
FM me if you want any detailed info: Here are some pics..the first set are pics I took on the Train Ride (The Glacier Express)
