SWR- breakouts

SWR- breakouts

my back has been breaking out like crazy lately. My dress has a low back, and I will be wearing my hair up, so if this pattern continues I will have one nasty back for the wedding. I am thinking about going to the dermatologist, but does anyone have any suggestions before I seek the help of a professional?

I have the same problem, but only on the top part of my back, closer to my neck.

I go to the Mario Badescu salon, and they have a 'facial' for those areas, and it's been working with me.

I also tend to break out b/c of stress and my cycle, and keep it under control by Oxy Pads for the nasty ones...and it works.

yes, a lot of spas have special 'back facials' and I will be getting those closer to my wedding because my dress has a low back and I want it to be clear as well. just like you, I have been breaking out on my back (never in my life have had this problem except for now)!

You could make some changes in your diet. I'm sure that you eat a healthy diet, but it surprised me to learn how certain foods affect the skin.
A facialist told me by looking at my skin that I was lactose intolerant and once I stopped eating dairy, my skin improved greatly. Sugar can sometimes cause skin flare ups as well.

DAIRY is a HUGE contribution to acne!

For me its stress...and chocolate (which I dont eat)...but when I go through stressful periods...oh my I break out like crazy...also on my upper back. All I can say is that right before the wedding cortizone here I come!

I think a lot of products we use on our hair causes our backs and forehead to break out.

I used to break out a lot - on my back especially, my dermatologist told me to stop using gel completely and when u take a shower try scrubbing your back a lot.

Definitely diet and stress can be factors...I would check to see if anything your eating is contributing.

In the meantime, like Christine said about the back facials at Mario Badescu are great, but if it's something you can't afford to do on a regular basis, you can invest in his Glycolic Face Wash (or anything with AHA or BHA in it) and use it on your back to help heal and exfoliate. I think a bottle costs about $12 or so, and that should help clear it up and do it gently.

Good luck!

Avoid any products (and most have this in it) with Sodium Laureth or Lauryl Sulfate. That means hair stuff, face and body wash--etc. I use Jonathan Product, it's all natural, vegan--none of these crappy pore-clogging fillers. You can get it at Sephora. For years I wondered what was up with my back and it was totally b/c of SLS and I had perfect back skin on the big day

I still get breakouts on my back now and then but I use Phisoderm Clear Confidence Acne Body Wash in the shower and also use Clinique Acne Solutions Body Treatment Spray. The combo definitely keeps things under control.
