SWR - Budget - NY State, not mine

Gov Pataki, as threatened vetoed $4.6 million in the state budget. The veto including the ONLY source of state funding for legal services for low income New Yorkers. As a state NY only spent $2.50 on legal services per poor person (the lowest in the immediate area [NY, NJ, PA, CT, MA, VT etc]). If the legislature cannot successfully override the veto, I, and many of my co-workers will be out of a job by year's end - if we even make it that far!

I've already been working for 22 months without a raise. We went through layoffs in March '05 for the first time in the agency's history. I can't handle going through another round.

If I lose this job, there is no way we can pay for the wedding.

Isn't it frustrating? I will think happy thoughts for you for everything to work out OK.
