SWR: For couples not living together yet

FH and I will be moving in together soon and if anyone can help link

We're the same. The only thing our aparment claims to cover is heat and hot water.

That I can think of offfhand:

Electric
Telephone
Cable

Also you have to think about your regular monthly expenses, furniture, kitchen supplies, towels, etc.

moving expences (truck, new furniture, initial grocery shop... my 1st shop was 400 becuase you have nothing in your new place so you have to get stuff that you only refill occasionall like ketchup...

Oh yeah, internet, duh!

If you go with Cablevision, they have the plan for all three thats $30/$30/$30 cable, internet and phone, not sure what exactly is included, we don't have it.

If you need a good moving company, FM me. We used somone that was pretty reasonable. They stopped at my house and then FH's and onto our apartment..

although it isn't a necessity - I would add renter's insurnace! It is really inexpensive. I didn't have it when my apt. was broken into - $10,000 worth of stuff gone! and no insurance to cover it - that was not a happy day.

Renter's insurance is absolutely necessary!!

We always think that it won't happen to us, but frankly we have no control over stuff. I had a girl friend who throw a hot match by accident into the garbage and lost her whole apartment.. She had no renter's insurace and lost everything with no compensation.

YOU MUST HAVE RENTER'S INSURANCE!! It's pretty cheap and in the long run can save you a headache of a lifetime!

Who do or did you go through for your renters insurance?

ugh we just moved into our first place this past weekend ... i went shopping (grocery) on monday and spent $230!! Once home, i realized that I forgot like ,,. everything! We are going again tonight (together to decide on dinner foods) and I BET we will spend another 200! Food, cleaning supplies, shower/bath products etc. It adds up!

Deff make a list, keep a running list - have it with you so you can add things in the beginning ...

also, we just signed up for triple play through cablevision and so far so good - the install was easy and the wireless has been great. Just keep in mind taxes etc ... our $90 package costs about 130 per month!!
