SWR: Locks of Love...

My FH's daughter is 9 years old, and she wants to cut her hair thru locks of love before the wedding. Her hair is VERY long.

It won't say the participating stores on the website, so I figured I'd ask you ladies - we are looking anywhere in Huntington to Plainview, and in between, or nearby...

TIA!

Contact your normal hairstylist. Most of them do this. I donated 14 inches of hair a couple of years ago in SanDiego. What a great feeling it was to know that hair would help someone!!

I just asked my normal stylist and she had everything in her desk!!

I donated my hair through locks of love... and went to my normal hairstylist - Cactus in Plainview. Once I told them why i was cutting so much off, they immediately said the cut was free of charge b/c it was for locks of love. But I guess it would be best to check prior to going in for the appointment.

Tell her good luck, it is such a wonderful gift and so brave to cut so much hair off. Also, if they don't have the paperwork - google Locks of Love and there is a website that provides all of the information you need - this is what I did.

You can go to any hairstylist and have her hair cut - there is a minimum of 10 inches to donate - and you just have to send it in with the form.

I have done this 2 times already and want to do it again as soon as it grows out. The first time was 23 inches, the second time 11 inches right after the honeymoon.http://www.locksoflove.org/

Ulta does it and so does Cactus. I did mine in the city...I love my haircut and the little 'donor' card in the mail was super cute. She's adorable for wanting to do this...it'll really help!!

Also, it's really easy to send it in, so if you have a regular hairstylist I would get the instructions from the site (basically put clean, dry hair in a pony tail or braid and cut at least 10' off) and mail it in. Anyone can do this.

Cactus was on their master list as early as January. Call them, I'm sure they still do it and they'll tell you when...

I did mine at the Ulta store/salon on Hempstead Tpk in Levittown. My niece did it at a local salon by her house in Massapequa.
