SWR- Red eyes

Ok girls..help me out.

Ive had contacts for about 3yrs now...during my first year of wearing down I developed some bad allergies and my eyes became very red and burned...I went to the dr. and he prescribed some meds..which helped. the second yr of contacts I had no problem..but this year...less then a week before my wedding the problem is occuring again. My eyes are beginning to turn red and are burning. I am not wearing my contacts and they still hurt. I took a tylenol allergy pill...nothing. I cant go back to the eye dr. because I have no insurance and cannot afford the meds. Any suggestions? Anything over the counter that might help me?
Im desperate...I dont want to have red burning eyes on my wedding

Have you tried Visine? Is it the eyeball that is red or around the eye?

I would go to your local pharmacy and ask the pharmacists. Tell him your situation and he may be able to direct you to the right product. You dont want to be playing around with a bunch of different things this close to the wedding.

Good luck!

Definitely try visine...there are a few different types-read the boxes and find the one that may work better for you

Re: SWR- Red eyes

First--are you sure it's allergies and not pinkeye? If it's pinkeye, you need to see an eye doctor. It will have some discharge if it's pinkeye.

There are some over the counter eye drops that are specifically for allergies, try those. And take a Benadryl every night before bed--it can make you sleepy, which is why I take it at night, but it's the best thing to clear allergens out of your system. I have bad allergies and this time of year I take Allegra (prescription) in the morning and the Benadryl at night. Also, try Claritin or one of the generic versions. It doesn't work for everyone, but it might help.

You also might want to change to a new pair of contacts, if they're monthly ones.

Really the best thing to do is go to the doctor whether it's pinkeye or not--if it doesn't get better, my eye doctor is a great guy who has always given me enough samples for an entire prescription when I needed one. Usually I'm just there for the exam and contacts, but I've had to see him for pinkeye too a few times. If your eyes aren't better soon, PM me and I'll give you his name. Might cost you $100, but think of how much you've spent on this wedding!

Good luck!

Yeah, I would go to the pharmacy and tell them what the last Dr. prescribed and see what he says. But also make take pencils advice, take Clatitin-D everyday with the allergy visine and see if it clears up. GL

Go to the eye doctor - borrow the money from your family if you have to.
Last thing you want to do right before your wedding is start messing around with different products that may or may not work.

I have the SAME exact problem!!!

I have been wearing contacts for years and last year I developed very bad allergies to my eyes. I was on medication and I didn't wear my contacts for a long time and then just the other day I looked at my eyes and they are so red!! I had some left over eye drops so I used them in my eye and the eye ball itself is less red (mine gets red all around my cornea). But what I noticed is that my eyelids are sooo red- I definitely think it's allergies again. It's so frustrating.

I know you have no insurance, but I would go to one of those clinic places and get some eye drops from them.

Let me know how it turns out.

Visine definitely works. My eyes never bothered me, but a few months ago they started turning red like once a month and visine has seriously helped.

Hi! I wear contacts & have really bad eye allergies (allergic conjunctivitis - it resembles pink eye if I don't use anything). In any event, I'd recommend seeing your eye doctor ASAP. I have a prescription for Patanol & it works wonders. You just put it in 1st thing in the AM, wait 10-15 min & then put in your lenses...once you do your eyes are protected from allergic responses for most of the day (at least mine are!) so long as you don't come in direct contact with an allergen - i.e. pollen or cat hair right in your eye. Good luck & I hope you feel better!

ETA: Oh shoot - I just realized that you mentioned not having insurance...Maybe you can just call your old doc to see if you can get a free sample of the drops? Maybe he'll feel bad & will help (w/out an appt) if you mention you wedding's coming up...good luck!!
