So, my wedding is coming up and i'm having some issues with my skin. REALLLLY dry skin that won't go away with layers of moisturizer. Also, I have some acne scarring that i'd love to get rid of. I'm wondering if any of you have undergone a procedure like microdermabrasion? Or if you have anything else to recommend? I've had facials and they're great but i'm looking for something that'll have longer lasting results. Thaaaaanks!!

Re: SWR: Skin Issues
I got lazer refracturing done to my acne scars and that shrunk them about 40-50%. It is moderately painful and results will take about 6 months. 3 sessions one month apart, $400 a session. But it is definitely worth it. Your face will be pink for about 2-3 days but it's not that bad, and I'm very fair. Stay out of the sun for a while. It also helped my chicken pox scar. My giant chicken pox scar next to my eyebrow is half the size now. In the future I'm going to ask my dermatologist if I can do it again. It's also used for wrinkles.
Edit: Dr. Horlick who has an office in Selden, but he does the lazer refracturing in his Nassau office.

Re: SWR: Skin Issues
I have tried microdermabrasion and for me it did nothing. But it has worked for other people. Right now I plan on getting light chemical peels to help with my acne scarring. I also have been using a retinol gel prescribed by my dermatologist. So I would say go to a derm and see what they say and what they give you. So far the retinol has made my skin a lil dry , ( my doctor did give me a great moisturizing cream), but then I havent had any breakouts.

I use to be a skincare consultant...so hopefully I can help. try Cetaphil products, you can get it at Duane Reade, cvs, etc.
I feel that microdermabrasion will dry your skin out even more...but it will help with the ance scars a bit.
For the acne scars, that will actually take a long time to go away. I don't think it will go away in time for your big day but you can try to use Perricone M.D. from Sephora. It is pricey but it works wonders for acnce scars. maybe ask for a sample before sampling.
And as always drink plenty of water!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: SWR: Skin Issues
ive done chemical peels and it worked great for scarring and underskin breakouts. I am only red for about an hour and then it goes away and my face is smooth again. It also improves dryness for me too because it peels away that layer to bring a fresh new layer.

YES thank you! I'm going to call this place tomorrow. I live in Babylon and have been wondering where to go get facials. I want to get at least 2 or 3 before my wedding in April.
Just looked at their website - I can use everything they offer!
Thanks
Have an Appt on Sunday!
