Mine has gotten worse over the years, I quit smoking and I read that quitting smoking is one of the causes for social anxiety.
Do you talk to anyone about this? You can FM me if you'd like so we don't let the whole world know our business :)

If I'm going on a trip with fh I get driving anxiety. His driving makes me nervous. Our photographer is in Ozone Park and we went out there one night and I freaked out because I thought this one car was coming into our lane so I screamed and my fiancee was like RELAX!!!

Re: SWR: Social Anxiety
I can relate...i've had social anxiety since I was a kid. It's gotten better with medication and some therapy. Even self-help books work.... The Cognitive Behavioral approach can be very helpful because it helps you change thought patterns, a lot of which drive social anxiety.

I do! I break into hives as well because of it... I'm really nervous about the wedding and wearing a strapless dress.... hoping my MUA will be able to cover it.

If anyone can reccomend a dr in Nassau I'd really appreciate it. I looked on my insurance website and there's like 20 pages or more of dr's to choose from.

Re: SWR: Social Anxiety
Oh I can sympathize, this is definitely something I deal with as well. It's really hard sometimes. With all the stress of wedding planning and having to make appointments with vendors I've really been on edge lately.

This is me. Fh still enjoys going out and having a few drinks and for the most part I'm okay but there are certain nights I can't deal with large crowded bars.

Re: SWR: Social Anxiety
Exactly, i have no problems when the bar has a few people...or even when its partly full....its when it is so crowded that you cant even get to the bar or walk around that i freak out!!!! You could try going on an SSRI (like celexa or prosac), but therapy might be a better option...good luck

The practice is in Garden City, Dr Genovese is the main psychiatrist. I don't know what insurance they take but he has a good reputation. It may be worth a phone consult to see if it's a fit. Good luck.
also- Adelphi's Derner Institute in Garden City has a counseling center. A professor told us it's the best deal around for counseling. Sessions are low cost and you receive treatment from a (supervised) PhD candidate.
