SWR: Times Square Restaurants

FH and I are staying in the city for 2 days after the wedding...we are staying in Times Square. One morning while we are there I want to head over to the Plaza and try to get 2 seconds on the Today show .

Are there any good restaurants in that area anyone can recommend??

I always do lunch at Joe Allen

Try the Morrell Wine Bar and Cafe by Rockefeller

I will ask DH, too....he works right there. I know we always go to Johnny Utah's for HH

I'd stay away from most Times Square restaurants.....too touristy and expensive

Rockefeller has more options

But Joe Allen is off Times Square and is in an old horse stable....it is a pretty cool broadwayish place and the food is good

Times Square - Havana Central

even though most of the TS restaurants are overpriced and expensive. I would try Serendipity if you want a cozy place but the line is long sometimes (it's near 59th Street). Also, I know Patsy's is over there too which Sinatra loved.

'12er crashing...I work in the area

For good food and cool ambiance try Fig & Olive on 52st and 5th

If you want Italian, def go to Becco, which is on 46th between 8th and 9th. It can be hard to get a reservation but the food is REALLY good. It's a Lidia restuarant.

Cool Italian Wine Bar on 44th bet 9th & 10th called Gallo Nero. Very small..not many tables but has a very cozy feel.

Also in the same restaurant group as Gallo Nero is Bocca di Bacco on 9th bet 54 & 55.

There are a bunch of cute little places..I would stay away from the immedate area of TS at all costs though! Way too touristy!

I used to work at Blue FIn in the W hotel. It's GREAT if you like sushi and seafood. On the corner of 47th and Broadway.
