SWR: Went to Diamond Vision for a 2nd LASIK consultation...

the first time, I went to TLC in Garden City. They said I WAS a candidate for LASIK. I went to Diamond Vision because of the lower prices.

First of all... the director, who I met with was a SWEETHEART. So nice and informative (and funny! ... Greg Lemoine).

So, he did all the tests that TLC did on me, and then came back and said he was surprised that TLC said I was a candidate since I have irregularly shaped corneas! He recommends a surgical procedure, that does NOT involved cutting the cornea, called PRK. That would be the same price, but the healing process would take a longer time (a few more days... can't go to work).

Now, I don't know what to do. I want this done before the wedding. I may go for ONE more consultation for a third opinion, but I really liked them at Diamond Vision. I just want to read more about PRK and get other prices.

I went to sooo many docs for a consultation before I had mine done, including both diamond and TLC. IMO Diamond seemed the least knowledgeable.

I wanted to go with them b/c they were less expensive, but in the end I decided my eyes were worth the money. I went with Dr. JAmes Kelly,

I can't recommmen him enough. I did not have the money to pay for the whole thing at once, and they offer a payment plan via Capital One

ETA: I got mine done 4 years ago, and my eyes are amazing! I had 20/20 vision the next day after the surgery.

i had my surgery through TLC - i had a form of PRK - healing process is much longer i will tell you

my both me and brother were not the best candiates for it but we ended up with perfect vision thanks to TLC

TLC has different lasers across LI, NYC, and CT that they use and they are always getting newer ones that work better

and i would get another consult but i would highly recommend Dr. Donnefeld at TLC , he has fixed the surgeries of about 20 friends and family

make sure you get a referral from a few people to a certain doctor because i have seen some horible things when people cut corners on price

PRK is cheaper then lasik - it will take 3 days in a dark room - seeing the doctor each day for three days after surgery, and a week after that, steroids for your eyes for a few months

vision usally drops to 20/40 after about 3 -7 days then the last bit takes a month or so as it heals

i was pretty strong pain killer the first 24horus

My frind used and RAVES about Dr. Kelly too.

Ia m too much of a chicken but if I were to do it - I'd use him or Dr. Dellarusso.

I would never go the cheaper route - JMHO

I am... I actually just made another appointment.

Question... why do all the LASIK places all seem to be in Garden City? Is the tilt of the earth's axis perfect in that spot for this procedure or something?
