Can you call a local restaurant or deli to send a tray of food or platter?

I am very sorry about your friend's mother.

Re: Sympathy Gift??

Its actually my brothers best friend....His Mom had a massive heart attack this afternoon and passed away....

Her sister just died of cancer last month, her brother about 16 years ago, and he was VERY young...

my brothers best friends grandparents ahve had to bury 3 children...

His friend has 2 older brothers, (my brother is 23, his friend I think is 21), and I knew all of them....I am going to call around tomorrow to see if one place I love will deliver them a dinner.....they are all taking it very very very hard, I just want them to know I am thinking of them and I know how special they were to thier Mom....

when fh's mom passed away last year, we got fruit baskets, flowers, etc but one of the most helpful 9bsiedes actual meals) was a cookie and treat basket we got - b/c we obviously didn't grocewry shop ahead of time, it gave us the chance to offer snacks to all those who were wonderful enough to come by and offer their help and support

sorry to here of the loss

what do you think Anyone have any great easy and quick recipes? Suggestions? I think I will make my own basket....

even just grabbing a few bags of sucking candy, or chocoaltes to throw in with cookies is fine....a bag of pretzels, chips, etc may work too.....

Re: Sympathy Gift??

What town? Do you know of any delis around there? I know when my mother passed away someone sent us a tray of lasagne and meatballs and bread and side salads like potato salad and cole slaw from a deli and it was a godsend those first few days because we totally didn't want to cook. See if someone will deliver it.

A home made basket sounds nice too but for the cost of it and the shipping maybe calling the deli might be just as worth it (if they deliver).

Sorry for your loss and I hope your friends are doing alright.

sorry that you are even in his situaion...but I always have found that calling a local store is best...

deli or bakey...there is usually one with the town name in it and then you can just search on yellowpages.com
