Table Names

Table Names

I want to do something creative for table names...

What do you guys think of a story?

Like:

The First table can be: Once Upon A Time

Then the next table can be: There lived a boy named Rob... (and this can be a rob centric table of his friends and family)

Maybe another table somewhere that said: 'They bought a beautiful house in Sayville' and have our friends from the town there...

Maybe something like: 'FINALLY, they decided to get married...' and have a table full of our mutual friends who have been driving us up a tree trying to get us hitched for the last 5 years

with each table having a snippet of a little mini story about our family until we get to the last table... mine and rob's:

'And they lived Happily Ever After.'

Dopey? Or cute?

Obviously I haven't really worked out much of a story... but I wanted some feedback before I invested too much time in the idea..

Re: Table Names

i like it!!!

i'm just wondering: how are you planning to display this so that your guests can see that it is a story?

i was thinking that maybe you can do a seating chart vs escort cards. this way you have one big frame with the snipits of the story, and below each snipit is the names of all those who will sit at that table.

i hope that makes sense. if it doesn't fm me and i'll do my best to explain it better

i was thinking of something similar. i was going to have each table be a place that means something to us. i was going to have us take a picture in front of the place holding a card with the number. for example: table 1 would be a picture of us standing in front of the restaurant where we had our first date. table 2 would be a picture of us standing where we had our first kiss. and so forth and so on.

i'm not going to be able to do it because i just ran out of time.

please let us know how you decide to put it together.

Re: Table Names

i think it's cute :) just make sure each table is a full sentence otherwise people will definetly be confused. My friend just went to a wedding where each table number was a special date for the couple, and then on the other side of the card was the explanation....

example: her table was number 82502 and then on the back it said 'august 25, 2002 - the day we met'

i think it's a really great idea as long as u can think of that many dates!!!

Re: Table Names

It's a nice idea, but i just read another suggestion in a li wedding magazine. i kind of like it. instead of table numbers, you put a word. For example:love.honor,respect.etc...

The seating chart is a great idea if you're going to do a story. My suggestion is numbering the storyline. 1. Once upon a time (list names)
2. There was a boy named rob (list names)

I know you wanted to stay away from numbers but the reason I say that is bc the older guests may get confused. This way they see the #, read the storyline, and understand that is where they sit.

Good luck! I think it's a very origional idea!

Re: Table Names

maybe you could do a book sort of seating chart. it could be shaped like a book to really drive the whole story thing home.
maybe each table could be labeled with a page from your story book, complete with illustrations if you have the time (find a nice pic on the internet or something).
i really like the idea though, i think it's really cute. =0)

Re: Table Names

i think it's adorable!!! VERY creative!!!

someone was suggesting a way for it to 'make sense' as a story with a picture frame instead of table cards. I like that idea...

and maybe for each table, you can have the whole story at the center of each table, with THAT table name's line of the love story really, obviously bigger and in bold print, instead of just a line on its own, separate from the story. This way, every can read the whole story at the center of their table! Soooo cute!!!

By the way...

'And the lived happily ever after' was the theme of my bridal shower last Sunday, and my mom bought us this sign, which we're using as our thank you cards now:
