Table names

Table names

I've been reading up on all those bridal magazines and I came across an idea that I thought was super cute. Instead of having like table number one, table number two and so on, they would each be named by something from a theme. Such as beaches like the Montauk Table, the Jones Beach table. I don't particuarly love the beach idea though because I feel as though that is a little less formal than what I am looking for. The only other idea i came up with was having each table be named after a different wine. Does this sound like a cheesy idea? Should I just stick with numbering the tables? Are there any other themes anyone can think of? Thank you!!!

I think it's a great idea . . . numbers are used all the time! I like the wine idea.

no i think it's really cute too-- its funny you said wine- bc i was thinking of that too...
i was at a wedding where each table was a different martini, the centerpieces were huge martini glasses w/ flowers in them so it was cute.

HI how are you!! I think that Idea is AWESOME!

For my table numbers I'm actually going to name each table after ppl that meant a lot to me that as passed on...it sounds sad but my guest will get the sentimental meaning behind it!

What about your favorite candy and place lil candies around the centerpiece!

I love this idea, Im actually using different leaf names, since were doing an autumn theme and on the table names were putting pictures of the leave in its fall color.

I have heard of the word 'LOVE' in all different languages (amore, etc).

Also, different places you have been to or traveled to.

Kitten: the leaf idea is really cute!

Love the ‘love’ idea!

My kinda unofficial theme is Sweden, where FH is from. DO you think it would alienate the (vast majority) Americans if each table had a cute lil Swedish word? Like the one for love and such.

Re: Table names

i like the beach idea. my friend used wine themes last weekend, and although it was cute, it was very hard to find the tables.

I like the wine table idea....we are having a Halloween wedding so I was thinking of naming the tables after classic scary movies. Great idea with the wine!!!!

No it's not crazy, do a search on here, many people are doing different themes. Some people like to travel so they used places they have been or want to go. Some used dates for specific things that happned in their relationship together with a little explanation on each table of why the date is important to them. Some do the wine theme, a sports theme.
I am thinking of doing place is Italy for his side of the family (since they are Italian) and place in Ireland for my side (since we are irish). I thought that would be a symbol of tieing the two togehter.
Oh some like flowers, cars, etc,

I think the theme weddings work best when it's something that is meaningful to the couple in their everyday lives. Whether it's beaches,or wine, it's something that reflects your personalities which is soooo nice!

I am planning to use dogs. Either different breeds, or dogs in our families. I'll have pictures and names. Like my dog growing up was a cairn terrier, named Bert, so there will be the Bert table, with his picture. Not sure yet how to help guests find their tables. I thought of using a blown up seating chart and having pictures of the dogs on the corresponding table. Some people I am sure will think it's crazy, but I don't really care.

Re: Table names

Im having a disney / stratrek theme wedding so we have the table numbers to match, obviously this isnt what would suit you since you are looking for something formal, but you can definatly do it and make it look classy.

I think the different wine name tables is a beautiful idea. You can think of the Long Island Wineries. That would be a cool idea.

NO WAY - i think it's really a cute idea...and then they'll have all learned something new the day of!!! And if they hear someone speaking Swedish and that word comes up - they can be all intelligent like - i know what they just said... :) I'd just put the translation below in italics or something...

Re: Table names

We are trying to come up with something unique for table names as well. We are huge Star Wars geeks so we were playing around with that. We shall see.
